chinagirl got a "speed" carb and a 36t sprocket.she ran good
with the carb and old sprocket (44) but with the 36 she seems
pretty hot when i stop. i know 2 strokes run hot, more so even with the taller
gears, i just dont want to be ruining it more every time i ride it. the carb needle
is in the middle and she runs great, just seems rather hot when i stop.
maybe im being stupid. if anyone has run this and can give me some advice that would be
great.
cheers.

how hot?

my engine fins will burn my leg if i lean on them. (i mean, not like i do it on purpose...)

the exhaust pipe will melt my shoes, and "tings" sometimes when it cools.

if your's is shooting flames, glowing red hot, or drops of molten aluminium are coming off of it, then you need to really worry...

Check your sparkplug for color.

You may be running lean so see if your plug is a white color.

Also you may have air leaks causing a lean condition.

I have a 36T, the engine works harder, goes faster and burns more gas but it doesn't seem to be any hotter and I run it for an hour or so at a time.

Yup, the engine definitely works harder with the taller gear and the higher resulting speeds. I ran a 34T for 3 years, and my engine and mix rich with a hot NGK plug and tall pedal gears to help accelerate. Oh it did accelerate too lol

hahaha, ok. yeh it will melt wire's if there leaning or too close to the head,
and i can feel some pretty descent heat, but i think you're right.i am over reacting.
i suppose it would run poorly if was doing damage.
thanks for the reply.

BiMoPed,
shortly after my first post i pulled the plug out and tweaked the head bolts,
one was not as tight as the others and the plug was a light brown. which
i think is o.k.,i made a new gasket for the inlet manifold when i did the carb,
and i dont think the carb is leaking. i think its just me being silly.

i will be taking it out today for a "cruze" i'll see how i go. i dont think there will
be many problems from what i hear, just me worrying over nothing.

thanks for the help/reply's everyone,i really appreciate the advice and it
gives me peace of mind. happy motoring! :)

I was riding with short shorts and my standard head back on the other day.

I'm like...."I smell cooking pork...."

Then I had a strong sensation in my left leg, just around the bend from my knee cap. The ONLY thing that would stop the PAIN after that point was huge hunk of ice on it. Now I have three perfect scar lines. Chicks dig it. It's like a brand....

I once rode my bike wearing shorts and boat shoes. I don't remember why I shifted at an awkward angle while waiting at a light but, next thing I knew, I had a singed ankle and three nifty red stripes all before the light turned green. It started really hurting shortly thereafter. I don't see any scars here anymore, so I think I got lucky.

I DON'T ever ride with shorts, or should I say I'll never ride with shorts again.... 1... guess. Yup.....I'm branded for life (what's left of it), but at 63 I don't G... A S..., except for the healing time gets longer as the years build up.

Re: possible overheating china girl 36t?

lol.
Even with heavy clothes on you can skin yourself pretty
well. i had a stack with the original setup at about 30kmh,
of a half foot step at night i didn't see. i had a jacket and long
pants on,which seemingly made no difference.skinned both knees,
and both elbows. i actually think i chipped the bone on my elbow.
smashed two big dents in the fuel tank (with my knees i think),
the motor cut out, and the front wheel was bent like a bananna, not
to mention the handle bars hanging off too.luckily it started, but i
had to stand on the front rim to try and straighten it, to get it going
and disconnect the brakes.thought i may as well finish the trip to
the bottle shop, seeing as i crashed pretty much out the front of it.
what was more stupid is i had drinks at home and didn't really need any,
i just wanted to take the bike out,it still wasn't broken in yet.stupidity.
i have a new found respect for this thing now,and its definitely not
to be ridden after too many refreshments either.
that was about 3 weeks ago and me elbow still hurts.
true story :)

since the bike has been upgraded i have had no more than two beers or
so.lol.going 50kmh now is just too dangerous.by the way i have been riding
her to work and all over the place with the new setup.takes a while to get
to top speed (ive started pedaling a lot more) but when it gets there she hums
along. ;) yee ha
i love my china girl.
