I ordered a custom MM adapter on May 30th, it was done and shipped on June 1st. May 30th was a holiday, too. Lightning quick! No one here can beat that!

The part was well finished and came with 2 sets of hex-head cap screws. 1 set countersunk and the other set pan head. Allen wrenches for each type were included.

All in all, I highly recommend getting a Manic Mechanic custom adapter if you are sick of ragjoints and have an odd-size hub.

I ordered one for my Bendix 76 which measured 1.604. I ordered on a Thurs. morning and got a confirmation of shipping that afternoon and it was in my mailbox on Sat. That's service! I ordered the 40 tooth from Pirates and though they were a little behind with shipping due to Matt's injury, the part made it to me in a timely manner (with lots of candy) and Viola! Everything mounted up perfectly and my bike runs smoother than ever! I highly recommend the adapter and sprockets!

I ordered 2 of these in the last 2 weeks. I am glad they are available
This may be the best improvement you can make to your motorized bike!

These are of the Highest quality , add the Matching sprocket from Pirate
Cycles and you have the best drive system available, hands down!

Fast shipping and great service, very rare in this business.

I will be using this system on all the bikes I build from now on.

Likely one of the best extras I purchased for my bike. In fact, these shouldn't be an "extra", they should be mandatory on any good bike. One good reason is that you can very easily adjust how close the sprocket rides to the spokes. This makes it easy to adjust alignment with the engine sprocket.

Where are those pics?

mandatory? LOL
MM sprocket hub adapters can be used on just about any
36 spoked wheel now and they take a lot of the aggravation
out of installing a kit as well as adding a safety factor so
maybe you are right!

Manic Mechanic has a new dot com website. mmBikeParts.com

Jim the manic mechanic of Creative Engineering also sponsors
Motorized Bicycle racing in California. MM generously donated
so many sprocket adapters, sprockets and his now unavailable
copper exhaust gaskets that it was hard to give them all away
at the first ever CA race at Willow Springs. Thank you Jim and Karen!

Just in case anyone thinks it's hard to install a MM adapter,
check out the cool animation below.
It's a very easy 5 minute one time install that never will slip if sized
correctly.
Jim has actually made adapters as small as a 5/8" / 0.625" ID for
several experienced and competent motorbikers and there was
zero problems with about 12 of them.

However the smallest size made now is 0.9" because a few users will
not get it right with such a small surface area but it more than proved
how well they grip.
MM adapters were designed in SolidWorks then analysed with FEA
software so the gripping surface area would give a slight crush onto
the hub.
Any more surface area would be a detriment and actually not grip as well.

Jim would never ask his users to determine what kind of surface area was
needed to work. Engineering is not a poll on a forum! LOL

PS: FEA stands for Finite Element Analysis Google it lol

The next real world test was to bolt a long cheater bar onto
a hub adapter mounted sprocket and put a lot of force on the bar.
The result was that the spokes started to give and would have ripped
out of the hub if the force was continued.

So the spokes will fail way before a MM hub adapter.

If you don't believe it try it your self....LOL

Some of the 4 stroke guys are running huge 72 teeth sprockets on
MM adapters with zero slipping problems.
There is NO need to increase gripping area on a MM hub adapter.

Also only a 2 piece design has the right amount of "flex" to put a bit of
crush on the hub. A 3 piece deign was tried and rejected by MM early on
even though it was quite a bit cheaper to manufacture.

No worries, I don't know why this is such a big deal after all
this thread is about Custom Sized sprocket adapters.

Jim the manic mechanic is the Only manufacturer and seller
of an adapter that will fit just about any 36 spoked wheel.
Maybe 32 spoke wheels again soon too if there is a demand.

You would think that everyone would be thrilled to have this unique
custom option available again for motorbikers?

No one else is going to or could at the $45 Priority Mail shipped price.

When you only offer one size for a coaster no less why would this upset
anyone??? Not very sporting in my opinion.
I hate coaster brakes and now once again have a way to put a sprocket
on the wheels I really want to use so MM is a hero to me.
Cool parts for the motorbiking people!!!

PS: here is a high quality 2 jaw chuck manufacturer even though the analogy
between chucks and hub adapters is not a very good one if you really
think about it.

Buck is a premier name in quality chucks

No debate in my mind. Both are good guys with good products and having options is always good for us on the buying end of things. I was real glad to see the custom hubs are again available since I'm using an oddball mucho grande moped hub on an upcoming build. Thanks for the thread.

I nearly missed your pics because you didn't make a new post.

Great close up detail which clearly shows why a 2 piece adapter was
the original and superior design.
Will never slip. Hope you used a cheater bar on that allen wrench that
MM includes with every adapter. A class touch from a top class company.

My lord those little allen bolts are only rated for so much torque! I remember back in the day ramping B.M.X. bicycles and we did that on stripped handle bars... You have to use a a cheeter bar to keep the darn thing from slipping. Just joking just jokinglaff:);)

Both adapters will work guys! I kinda like the 3 jaw my self.

Those 3 little allen bolts holding the sprocket on are 3/8" and very beefy so
they take lots of torque.

Jim the Manic Mechanic has no competition!
Jim is the only manufacturer of Custom Sized sprocket hub adapters.

I don't see any bashing except from you Norm and Pat.
Pat only makes one size adapter for coaster brake hubs.

Manic Mechanic makes hub adapters for just about any hub
except for a few off shapes.

The original 2 piece adapter is a proven superior design.

Creative Engineering is the official sponsor and recommended
hub adapter for Motorized Bicycle Racing in Southern California.
Thanks Jim for all the prizes at the last race and your continuing
support.

I think the hub adapter imitator only uses 5/16"

Your so called jokes are ..........it figures that you like the 3 jaw after reading a
few of your posts. Are you really a mechanic????? lol
Poor Pat never bashed any thing ever! Choose your words clever you are . Funny the race in Cali was hosted by you but that was in your interest was't it. I got different approaches then that of a M&M adapter in mind... or the truly Awesome other ones.

I think both adapters are a awesome contribution to our hobby. All the He Hawing no.

I was just having a poke at you Bi Dude Just Joking Just Joking remember.

After following some your post I am more Mechanic then you will be in two lifetimes.;)

Jim was never the originator of the clam shell he said him self he got the idea from this hobby off ebay. Pineapple is one example .

WHY CAN'T WE JUST GET ALONG WITHOUT ALL THE EXCESSIVE SPAMING?

I got a better stick of bubble gum then youlafflaff

Read the eighth line down. Bubblegum Diaries: It's that time again

http://youtu.be/xtrEN-YKLBM

The sprocket mounting bolts and the clam shell bolts are all 3/8". Pretty solid stuff.
I am pretty sure the Pineapple is 3/8'' as well..

Less drama would be nice. Good to have quality choices for us builders. Sure beats having no choice but the rag joint. Continued success to both Pat & Jim. We are richer for the things you guys make available to us.

I can't seem to find the information I was looking for... thought it was here, but maybe it was a different thread. So I'll ask again. I have the larger adapter. What is the smallest sprocket I can fit on it? The engine I'm using (Sachs) calls for a 28 tooth sprocket. I'd rather not have to buy the smaller adapter for obvious reasons... money. Can you help?

Just ordered my MM sprocket adapter today c'mon on mail man.
That's the worst part. Waiting for it to get there! If you're anything like me, you suddenly feel like your current setup is a pile of junk until you actually get and install your upgraded parts. Then it's acceptable for a while again =)

Mine arrived like two or three days after I hit order, so I wouldn't worry too much about having to wait.
