Running a Grubee GT5 66cc. Have 1,000+ miles. My speedo keeps resetting once the motor kicks on initially (not every time, about half) and now I am getting shocked when I adjust the carb air intake. I changed the plug and installed the super duper insulated plug wire from SBP. The plug wire is not touching the frame. Still getting shocked and resetting the speedo.
Do I need to insulate the CDI? Replace it? Look elsewhere for the problem?
Getting ready to install the shift kit. Would like to fix this first.
Ideas?

Thanks for the suggestion Toadmund, but I had already done that. Moved the Speedo, wires, and sensor to the opposite side of the wheel and handlebar. Almost to the point of getting an "old fashion " mechanical Speedo.

I'd try running a ground strap from engine to frame just to see if it made a difference.

Check and make sure the spark plug wire is securely attached to the CDI unit. Also check and make sure the CDI unit isn't cracked. Check the spark plug boot and make sure it is secured and covers the plug.

Check and make sure no cracks in the spark plug or spark plug wire.

Might run it in the dark to get an idea where the "leak" is coming from.

Good Luck,
