Received my hub motor kit. Was purchased as a 36v/500wt kit. However the hub motor is a 48v/500wt unit. The speed control is labeled with check boxes indicating 36 48 and 60v, naturally none are checked to indicate which voltage the unit is. The only 36v dedicated part of the kit is the charger. Think I could get away with running 48v through the controller?

You should be fine. You can always open it up to make sure. Check the model of the fet. Most likely fet is rated at a max of 60V and caps could be listed as 63V.
And since it's open, add some solder to the shunt. Just add little bit and you'll gain a bit more power.

Thanks! I opened the unit and sure enough the cap is 63v. Had to Google FETs but now I know what they are. There are 6. No is voltage indicated but there are #s

80N70F4
G4092 F2 (G could be a 6)
CHN 251

Also where/what is the shunt?

Looks like its good to go with 48V?

Thanks for all your help!!

Thanks lookin forward to it, but one last question I swear! I bought 50v caps to add to the speed control when 36v was the intended voltage. Will they work with the 48v system? My concern is the battery voltage coming off charge will exceed 50v.

Concerns?
