Just a FYI. I talked to Trailtech last week about the Vapor guage package. I knew they sold cylinderhead temp guages alone, but somewhere I had the impression the Vapor was only for waterpumpers. Not So! You can get them for aircooled engines as well, giving you rpm, mph, and cht.

All right the china's magneto will power it. It flickers too much tho on the screen back light at idle . Raise the idle any at just a tad higher and it works perfect. So yes the china's magneteo will power it with out any noticable differance that would lag the motor or make it die.
Also the tach worked great tied into the blue wire to the cdi.

Got mine yesterday and hooked it up today. Works great but I think I'll order a handlebar mount from Trail Tech for it. Grubee GT-2. RPM's maxed out at 6740 but it only has about 140 miles on it.

My brother ordered one of these, got it yesterday. Like every other tach he's tried on his GXH50, it reads incorrectly, about 1000RPM too high. We put it on my HS and it works perfectly. Also has the odd side-effect of removing the hesitation my throttle had just off idle. Wierd. Nice to know my RPM and peace of mind that I'm not overreving my engine at 30. :D

That is strange with the Honda motor....did you try adjusting it with the button on the back?
