Well not totally done my first build but decide to start this one for some two wheeled fun. Need all the help i can get so any tips or ideas you have please let me know. I was not planning on having a clutch or a lift system for ease of build. Will bolt up some metal skin to my metal structure then bolt the motor to that. Make sense?

Nice project!

Where will your adjustments be?

At what rpm will you be cruising?

Ya might try 1.5" roller size.xct2

Thanks, i'm still new at this so... my adjustments you mean roller to tire contact? I think some kind of slots on my skin to move the motor up and down would work. As far as rpm goes i think this motor tops out at 3600rpm under load? And the roller, i was thinking cause the motor has so much torque i would get a good rpm with this roller?

cheers

Try the 1" roller first; it might peak early, though.

Your engine has so much torque that a larger roller might work better.

Try the 1" first.brnot

I think that motor will rev higher than 3600 rpm.
Does it have a governor?
but:
The gear ratio calculator I use.

1" roller at 3600 = 10.7 mph
1.5" roller at 3600 = 16.1 mph
2" roller at 3600 = 21.4 mph
2.5" roller at 3600 = 26.8 mph
3" roller at 3600 = 32.1 mph

How much does that motor weigh?
That's a lot of weight back there.......

My new clone (HF 212/6.5hp) weighs 30# minus the muff and gastank.
I would not even think of mounting that size engine on the side of the bike.
They are great motors though.

Honda Gx140 Specifications

The Honda GX140 is an engine used in go-karts, lawn mowers, golf carts and other small, gas-powered vehicles and machinery. Honda introduced theGX140 in the mid-1980s but the engine and parts are still commonly available on the Internet. Honda's GX series is generally praised for having a good range and long life.

Engine

The Honda GX140 engine has a 144 cc, 8.8-cubic-inch displacement and a 2.5- by 1.8-inch bore and stroke. The maximum power output is 5 horsepower at 3,600 rpm.

The engine's maximum torque is 7.7 foot-pounds at 2,800 rpm. Fuel consumption is 0.081 gallons per hour with the engine operating at 2,800 rpm. The cooling system is forced air and the ignition system is transistorized magneto. The PTO shaft rotation spins counter-clockwise. An electric starter is connected to a 12-volt battery with an ampere-hour rating of at least 18 Ah.

Dimensions

The Honda GX140 Type-Q dual element model measures 12.8 inches in length, 14.4 inches in width and 13.2 inches in height. It has a dry weight of 30.9 pounds. The Type-Q oil bath air cleaner has a length of 12.8 inches, a width of 15.2 inches and a height of 13.2 inches. It weighs 35.3 pounds.

GXV140

The Honda GXV140 has an overhead valve vertical shaft in the A1(6) and N1 variations. It features a crankshaft power take-off (PTO) with a diameter of 3.31 by .875 inches and tapped .375-inch, Pitch 24 Unified Fine Straight (UNF) threads. The top speed with no load is 3,600 rpm. The fuel tank capacity is 1.16 quarts and the net weight is 26 pounds.

This engine is also produced in six other variations: MA1, MA2, MA4, MA7, MAF and MFG, all with top no-load speeds of 3,600 rpm.

It does have a governor ,its not hard to remove but you would have to upgrade the bottom end. So according to your calculations i will need a bigger roller.

Thanks for checking out the build.

Thank you for your honesty, I appreciate it alot! But i need to learn by experience. I bolted up the main supports and it holds my 200lbs and is rock solid. I'm going to assume your worried about so much weight not on centre? I also decided to use a lift as advised.
