Would this work ------- I put one 12 V - 40 AH battery ($110) in series with four parallel 12 V-10 AH batteries. To make it a 24V and 40ah+40ah=80ah?
All the same type of SLA/GEL battery. Would that work, or would it not balance out.

OR
What about one 12V 40ah in series with three series 12V 1ah battery?
*to get it up to 48V volts with ??ah??*

Because I already have the 12V 40AH SLA/GEL battery. Just want to jack up the voltage. I dont think this last one will balance.
-------------------------------------------------------
Series = Voltage is added, Ah stays same.
Parallel = Voltage stays same, Ah increases.

yo, anyway I googled it, it took awhile. Its no good to have different AH in series. OK for slight differences, but not huge.

That was my thinking. I never run different amp hours together but I have run different voltages by making sub packs to bring them up to the highest voltages. for instance.

12v + 12v + (2 6v in series) 12 v = 36v but all the same ah I run that configuration often. But I have also run a 30 volt with only one 6 v 12ah battery with no controller. It worked but I usually got tired of that configuration before long since it was a mutha to charge.

"I put one 12 V - 40 AH battery ($110) in series with four parallel 12 V-10 AH" . That might work but it would be a 24v40ah pack or all 5 in series for 12v80ah
