I've had my 66cc for a few months now, living in San Diego and have never been hassled. I have a legit 49 sticker on my engine to try and fool the cops but I can only imagine I'm just getting lucky not being stopped. What are the official 49cc rules in California, and will that sticker be enough to throw them off? I can only imagine that the average cop can't tell between a 66 and a 49 its such a small difference.

there is no cc restriction on motorized bicycles. you can have anything up to 149cc (i think, it's a hundred somethin') before it's considered a motorcycle. the under 50 thing is based on an old law, or an old wive's tale, i'm not sure.

BUT, to be legal in california, read this:http://motorbicycling.com/f17/real-deal-california-law-15268.html

50cc's is the least of your worries...
