Can anyone recommend a quality solid black finish engine with lots of aftermarket upgrades? For instance the GT5, and PK80 are easily upgradable with lots of kits on the market for them. Anyone know of a black engine like that? Anyone seen upgrades for black jet, black stallion, or black flying horse?

why not just use engine paint its only $3.00 at the auto parts store if you want it to stick better bake the cylinder in the oven at 400 for an hour as the can says and you will have a 10.00 cheaper engine the companies generally charge 10-20 more for the black ones when all they do is paint them there selves

Get the engine your comfortable with and paint it pink for all we care. The black finish is not going to give you a 10hp, 10mph increase. Just get an engine and go buy a rattle can of black engine enamel. If you swap out all the engine hardware like you should, then a painted bolt shouldn't matter much.

Best bet is get a Dax Gen 4 engine and paint it black... Now you got a high quality smooth running engine that's just begging for more upgrades and can withstand the extra power, then mask off the ports and spark plug hole then paint it black with some engine block paint.

The black engine kits are all just painted versions of the same engines and the finish quality is usually poor at best... with free overspray in the cylinders and ports where it doesn't belong so you're really best off ordering a silver engine and painting it yourself.

After buying a few kits, the only engines I'll buy are from Dax or MotorBicycleRacing, The Dax engines are available from his web site linked on the side of these pages, or you can PM or email MotorBicycleRacing and order one of his engines, both these sellers have the highest quality PK 80 type engines you can get, and probably for less than most ebay kits too.
