Nope, can't help with that. I just don't know.. I use the copper colored Copper Spray-a-Gasket.

I don't think a stainless ring is a good idea. It won't crush or conform and I think there would be squirming under torque and vibration of the motor causing galling and eventual leaks.

Guess I'll be trying a copper "o" ring myself for two reasons, one you peaked my curiosity and second I'm thinking that the silver solder won't melt and if it does the ring could always be brazed.

For a decent seal the ring needs to crush and not the aluminum around it.
