So I want to have my exhaust route backwards on my 99cc Predator, but also don't like my thighs roasted. Does exhaust wrap really help a lot? I was thinking of just making sheet metal shields but idk if that will be enough.

A metal shield, if nicely done will look a lot better than any of those insulating tapes. The trick is to keep the shield separated from the pipe leaving an air space between the two. Air is one of the best thermal insulators. 1/4", or better yet 3/8" space will protect you from the heat from the exhaust pipe.

Thanks! Yea I was just thinking about it because I rode a dirt bike with a shield on the pipe and it still gets pretty hot. Maybe I will double layer the shield on critical areas.

Yes heat tape works great , and doesn't have to look bad.
It also ( by holding heat into the exhaust system ) will add to the efficiency
of the exhaust flow.

By the way I love the use of Harly parts on the bicycle. Looks good.dance1
