Sorry I did not get back to you when you emailed me here on the forum. I'm slow to get to all when I first open a new account. Looks like you contacted me just days after I opened my account.
About you question, best advice I can give. If you believe you'll be reaching speeds of up to 50 mph make sure you have heavy duty rims. I weigh 170, but with 60 lbs of wet clothes on the back of a mountain bike, I melted a rear rim at 50mph on a huffy 18 speed. In as far as engines, this is my first build since I was 20 yrs old and I started when I was 13. I'm now 56. There are many others here with much more current experience than I. Good Luck my friend! matter of fact, I just noted this to the Most insane Trike ever....... http://motorbicycling.com/showthread.php?t=35066 This about melting my rear rim in the early 90's.
