After riding this for a while, I can recommend using a v-brake noodle on the connection between the 1st and second lever, and using standard cable housing instead of linear housing. It doesn't flex enough, and tends to not stay seated in the 2nd shifter. It still works well, but adding the noodle or a little more length, and the standard housing, will improve the design.
