Bob, these chinagirl motors are perfect for the likes of me... I'm a real cheapskate!
They will digest just about any kind of mix oil you have on hand.
I might try the 24:1 ratio mentioned above for the first pint of fuel run through the motor, then I'd immediately switch upwards to 40 or 50 to 1.
UNLESS, I had a plan to run the Opti2 fancy spec oil.
In that case I would see what the 100:1 guys have to say, and follow that regimen.

IMO, any current oil is sufficient for these motors.
I feel break-in is a mechanical process of allowing the engine speed to vary, up & down, with changes in loading and work cycle with allowance for suitable cooling dependent on circumstances you perceive.

There is validity in the concept of breaking them in hard and fast to prevent glazing and blow-by at the rings which may not be overcome in the life of the top end.

The Alabama Fisherman and most of the top engine builders here ALL advise a certain process of tearing the new engines down for inspection before attempting to start them.

I agree Very Much !

Design, manufacturing, tolerances, and quality control are all abismal.
Inspection will most likely be critical.

Now that the ratio thing is explained, break in a brand new engine at 24:1. After 2 gallons switch to 32:1 for the rest of the engine's life.

Lucas oil being a name I recognize, are these worth it and at the same ratios?

I am currently using Home Depots Echo PowerBlendX xtended life oil. Premium synthetic blend oil with fuel sabilizers. wow thats a mouthful, my fingers are tired from typing it. at 1.3 oz per Gal for a 25:1 ish mix. or am I doing it wrong?

I cant do math! This suxs! I think I might've blown up the engine! So why is it working this way? am I just lucky? 5.3333 oz is what I should've been using! http://www.csgnetwork.com/oilfuelcalc.html

I feel like a real idiot! Like I said before, this build would've gone so smooth and easy if It werent for my participation! lol. I guess I will make up a batch of 24:1 for real this time.

alright, so by adding more oil to the gas now am I gonna see an increase in performance? I havent noticed it running hot or smellin funny. Is it damaged because its underlubed? (Ive got a handful of dirty jokes runnin through my brain right now)

Gosh am I glad pickle checked here before running that oil at 100:1 !

Yah, pickle, you Will see an increase in performance with the proper amount of oil... technically speaking, increasing the amount of oil Leans out the mix which will pu you closer to the racer's edge... but probably never so that you would notice on a chinagirl, or any streetable motor that is not hooked directly to a dynamometer.

What you Will notice, with a proper amount of oil, is better cooling because of suitable lubrication, and less heat, therefore less binding and seizing in the internally lubricated parts of the engine... thus, more performance and, a longer life.

about 4oz of most types current production mix oil in 1 gallon of gas will prevent most 2smokes from seizing. You can certainly fine tune it from that point depending upon the quality of the oil and the manufacturers specs for their specific oil.

Please, if ever in doubt about any issues, always ask here on the forum!
It's really a bad scenario to have a 2smoke engine seize and lock up when going down the road at speed!

I ran an entire gal of gas w/synthetic oil at 100:1. Thats why I was freaked out.
Pickle, just curious, but what does it say on the conatiner of oil that you used? Does it give a recommended ratio? Some synthetics and semi-synthetics can be run at 100:1 with no problems.

it says use 2.6 oz for a 50:1 ratio. I believe its designed primarily for yard equipment like weed wackers. Using Picklemath I deduced that dividing the oz's by half would give me a lower ratio by half. Any wonder why I went to culinary school instead of rocket science school? In my defence my Dad says hes used the same math for 50 years with no issues. (Never mind he has a real head injury) My house is a reality show!

Years back, when I was a professional logger, Echo brand chainsaws were right there at the top of the hill with Stihl and Husqvarna.
I have no clue how they would place in the running, today, but I would guess if the name still means anything, as BikeGuy Joe said, it sounds like pretty good oil!

...With a 2smoke engine, if you haven't seized a piston or burned a hole in a piston crown, there's always a chance you have not done too much damage.
If you are a chef, you are among the people who are sensitive to certain things, and I suspect an engine in distress would most likely have gotten your attention.

Another point to consider... poor lubrication is worst on a new engine with close tolerances. An old worn out engine will take a bit more abuse than a brand spanking new one that is very tight.

If it's still alive after the mix escapade, chances are some accelerated wear has been introduced, but that may be the worst of it.

I concur. If it didn't seize or it isn't rattling I'd say you're good to go.
Just don't make a habit of oil starvation :) These little guys do need lubrication but they'll take some abuse too.
I built a bike for a nephew who rode it running straight gasoline. It actually did seize but after I pulled the cylinder and replaced the rings it ran great. In fact that engine is still running strong for the guy who bought the bike from me after I took it away from my nephew. That was about two years ago.

That makes me feel better and yes, I am in tune with the sound and feel of the engine, some call it paranoia. I also havent run it very hard during its break in period, not trying to go past 20mph for very long and such so that may have helped. This bike is saving me alot of time traveling using the bus, so Id have a problem with myself if a simple error trashed it! lol.

I use Lucas Oil Semi Synthetic 2-Cycle Oil 8 oz to a gl 16:1(one cup) been doing this for over 3 years very little smoke would I get more horse power using more oil? the spark plug shows no oil at all I'm running a cns high performance carburetor with a expansion chamber (banana exhaust) on a 66cc and what mark should i put the carburetor needle at there are 5 markings on it and what what octane of gasoline should I use xct2

You are probably the only member I know that has had good luck running at 16/1, heck my first bike I tried it and the thing was sick. I also run the Lucas semi synthetic but at 40/1, I've been at that ratio for over two years. As for the e -clip location you will have to go by the spark plug color to determine which groove is right for your engine. See "plug chop " .
