I actually just used some brown vinyl on this one, I figured I'd try the vinyl first because leather is so expensive and I had this left over from something else. It turned out better than I was expecting, we'll see how durable it is.

I absolutely love the seat, great job..... But if you don't mind me saying it looks a little too shiny. I wonder if some matte shoe polish would help???

That is 100% due to camera phone and flash in a dark garage. It's not shiny at all in person, the vinyl actually has a nice texture that imitates leather that can't be seen in the pictures either.

Finally started working on the bike again. The rear triangle was really bugging me so I bent and cut up two pieces of 3/4", than cut this out...

And tacked these in...

The bottom legs will remain how they are until I get the CVT in and figure out what will be going on there.
This is really not much for progress, just a step back and half a step forward but I plan on starting the tank very soon, hopefully.

I finally got back to work on my bike, I reworked the bottom legs of the rear triangle and just need to finish welding. I also received my CVT for Christmas and started working on the motor and CVT mount. If I can get some metal this week I'll hopefully have it all mounted soon.

I picked up a new toy which motivated me to get started on the motor mounts.

Cut a curve through 1/2" steel in a couple minutes, sure beats a sawzall like I was going to use.

A little more clean up and hole drilling and I can tack this on. This is the base which will be sandwiched between and bolted to the rest of the motor mount.

I tried to use an old 2" hole saw that I had but only got about a quarter through one plate before the teeth were gone so I'll pick up a new one tomorrow and finish that. I did get the holes that mount the three plates together drilled.

I've also been playing with ideas on vintagizing the motor, below is a photo with an old compressor head sitting on top, I might make some horizontal fins to go around the valve cover.

Youve probably seen this but, Another way to make the head look old is do it the same way as the Dixie Flyer did it, and it doesn't look very difficult at all. His was a GC160 rather than the GX160 but I'm sure they are the same in te cylinder

Yea, that's pretty much what my plan is for the valve cover area and than topping it off with this finned head or another one if I find someything better looking.

I got my hole saw and got the plates drilled, cleaned up, and tacked to the motor plate. I also tacked the 1/2"base plate to the frame and for the first time in this build I have what resembles a motor bike and not some goofy looking frame.

We would like to urge you to rethink your front suspension!
The majority of the stress will be on the little shocks which are
designed for compression only!
For example, if you use the front brake, the shocks try to extend and
top out (aluminum treads inside!!!) ! Think of the forces on your frontwheel
under heavy braking and the added arm to multiply the leverage by your front fork!

If the shocks fail, your whole front end would fold back!

We don't pipe up on this forum very often, but when we do, it
is because of a major safety concern!
(we have a set of exactly the same shocks in the shop, we did testing on)
