Nice work Grebes, i absolutely love your headlight, and i love the fact you make something like that rather then buying it, and is what this site is all about. Makes it 100 times cooler in my book. VERY VERY COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I like to give credit where credit is due, and that light is outstanding, along with the rest of your bike which is one of my favorites.

My projects are coming along slowly, I'm waiting for this heat to die down and I have holidays coming up so I hope to get more done soon.

I agree...very nice work on the headlight Greebs....ought to look fantastic on the bike.
I haven't been doing much with bicycles this winter, but while lurking in the wings it is nice to watch someone comming up with such great ideas and turning them into metal.

Hey Everyone,

Finally finished putting the bike back together. I just re-filled the gas tank and after making sure there are no leaks around my poorly-welded mounting holes, I will try a test run. I'll be doing the usual test run, late at night after the kids have gone to bed in the darkly lit hillside roads behind my house.

Once again, I took more pictures than necessary, but what can I say, I truly love my bike.

The pictures include my new headlight mounted, my tool/battery box mounted, as well as the new handlebars I acquired at the last Long Beach Swap Meet. I added 3" to the ends of the bars, bent the bars a little less far apart, and fabricated a crossbar.

Wow, I have to say, GREAT build. My dad said it looked like an old Harley. He just glanced at it and that's what he thought it was! I must say, you made that little Briggs FIT in that bike. A lot of guys that use the kit motors and make board trackers and stuff, leave a lot of empty space in the frame. But this one looks great! Fine work!

Gilbert,
I liked your bike way back when you had just been working on the frame. It has been an interesting evolution, seeing it get better and better as you refine your build. The headlight is sweet and your handlebars are super.

Thanks, when I originally built the frame, I actually made the engine opening a little too small. When I was grinding the tube that is placed above the engine, in between the gas tank and the engine, I made it a little too short and the gap between the tube and the motor mount got a little tighter.

An inadvertently positive consequence of my frame cracking was that i was able to make the engine space in the frame larger by making the loop in the down tube a little deeper. I now hopefully have adequate space to easily change out my spark plug without using a 19mm open ended wrench at a funky angle and spinning it 1/8th of a revolution at a time.

I haven't even tested taking the spark plug out yet with the new set-up, I don't know why, considering its been a pretty big pain in my butt for a while now. I'll have to look into that tomorrow.

Thanks for the positive comments everyone,

Gilbert

I've been watching for awhile and must say it's one of the most interesting builds to date. It's fun to just keep looking for all the little details you've added. Nice job!

Thank you everyone for the positive comments, it really means a lot to me. I kind of get in a bubble just working by myself in my one-bare-bulb lit shed at night.

My wife has basically put the kibosh on me riding this thing, she feels that it will make me get dead. So I pretty much ride it late at night after everyone is asleep. No one really gets to see it out in the world, except at the Grange race and one local ride with rockvoice and bizscotch on a cold rainy day.

It helps me to know that there are people out there in the ether that appreciate what I have built.

Thanks again,

Gilbert

Tnx for posting the pics!
I enjoy them a lot.

Maybe you could take some scenic pics on your rides around LA?
What a great place to ride!
At night after most the traffic is done... well, in at least some parts of the city!

Gonna be real nice out in the evenings...
A good muffler and flashy lights will be a good thing.
The clip on your helmet lights should be dandy, and not take away from the motorized bicycle, itself...
