Honda GXH50 problem

I've had a GXH50 for a while now. Just recently redid the whole bike. Left the old carb on it and it ran fine. Before the willow springs race I changed the carb to a big bore carb. When the bike takes off it dies. Kind of a intermittent problem. Has no problem starting and idling. Also when I'm going full speed you can hear and feel the engine die out then come back to power. Today i went and bought another carb just to rule that out. Same problem happens. I don't thing it is carb related seems like it could be something with the ignition or something.

Has this happened to anybody elase? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you check your coil, make sure it's tight and gapped correctly. Also check your spark plug......I know......but ya never know;) Loose spark plugs can do some strange things.

No didn't check the coil. Checked the plug and its gapped and looks good. what's a good way to check the coil?

Also scotto I cracked the outer bearing holder on my q-matic. Could I buy a replacement from you? I tried emailng ezm but no reply.

Thanks!

Pull the recoil starter and the cover and check too see if the coil is tight. Not exactly sure of the air gap but it should be near .020" between the flywheel and coil. Blow-mold plastic or a business card should fit between coil and flywheel.

You might want to call Quenton or MotorbikeMike for a replacement as I have none in stock. PM me if you have no luck or need assist.
