are those the micargi grips ???
I didn't think mine would slide over the throttle tube
also, did you drill for the rear fender mounts ?, mine bolt to axle

Hi Bill,
The grips are the ones that came with the Zoom kit. I did drill for the rear fender mounts. I didn't want unbolt the axle every time that I had to work on the fender.

Great job Crusin.I've had this Macargi for 5 months but been to busy with other builds to get to it.Do you have any close-up shots of your motor mount posts?I was going to use the seat post and weld another another post in front but,I like how you've centered the motor.Thanks...Cheech

Thanks Paul, I'm finally clearing some other builds for customers am really looking forward to getting that GTS up and running.
I splurged on it last fall but just haven't gotten to it yet take a look around over on my site,we got some new items up...Cheech

you did a fine job with that. dnut

a word of caution: i learned the hard way (30mph and sliding into traffic), to double up (putting one inside another) the fender braces. on rear fender those flat, Wald-style braces broke and got caught in the spokes, folding rear fender in half and jamming it between the tire and frame, locking rear wheel. that was scary.
i inspected the front braces, and one side was broken, even with the springer susp.
i J-B welded all new braces together and theyve held.

anyway back to the bike.....really nice work! you'll get some looks for sure

Hello,
I finally got the pictures of the motor mounts ready. I'm still working on the chain, it's slapping around too much for me, I think I'll add another tensioner to the top of the chain to keep it from slapping the frame.

I've used that same kind of mount on many of my builds. I've found that adding a muffler clamp work's really well also. Since this photo I have added a muffler clamp to the bottom also. There's no drilling into the frame.

Paul,thanks for puttin' up the motor mount pics.Are you having any lateral torquing problems with the engine sitting up that high and that far from the sprocket? One other thing, we use a spring loaded chain tenisioner on all our bikes that would def. help with that chain slap...Cheech chain tensioner.jpg

Hey Cheech,
No torquing problems. The motor height allowed me to not touch the pedal chain. I cut the chain guard, and slid the motor down as far as I could without touching the chain. I have since put an idler wheel at the top of the chain just to settle it down a bit. That stopped the chain from slapping around and hitting the frame. The clearance is very close on the stretch. I think that the look of the motor in the center of the frame was worth all of fabricating issues.

That was a really good idea to bolt the fender mounts. I have had two sets break on my Micargi. Once the tension is perfect on the chains it's too much of a pain to replace them.
They have some heavy duty fender mounts for low riders. They are twisted metal chrome and very durable. Problem is they are $12.50 a piece at my shop, and the regular ones are $1.50! That and my bike is too used to add new shiny chrome.

i have the same bike and am trying to mount the sprocket looks like you drilled your holes
out further than the factory.
Any tricks on doing that ?

You will have to re-drill the sprocket to get it to fit between the 68 spoke wheel.
I am sending a picture of how to set up the spacer brackets for drilling. Only use the outside holes on each bracket, for a total of 6 bolts.
