Finally had a problem like I see here so often.
Was riding home last night and suddenly my leg started getting soaked.
    Pulled off and found this:

Not going to bother trying to fix it. Swapped out for a new kit tank in under 10 minutes.
    That is all.

Yup, I had a stud failure too. Replaced it with a chrome tank and then my motor blew about a week later, lol.

Uh... I mean... she ran great for the next 10,000 miles until I got tired of never having to work on her, so I gave up the China Girl reliability for an electric.

Now you're talking! That's what I like to hear!
(I've been trying to brainwash The Pig with glowing tales of her ancestors.)
Don't laugh, I used to have a Ford that would run better when I threatened it with a package of hot dogs on the dash....I'd tell it to run or I was having a weenie roast and damned if that car didn't run better every time! I figure the china dolls are not too much smarter than a Ford, so....

    Gas tank? Please. lol

As for making cars behave, I did the same thing with my CD player in my Ram. Threatened to put it in the old truck...started working again.

On that stud failure did you line the bottom of the tank with reversed duct tape or some kind or rubber or did you just mount the tank straight to the bar? I ask because I had one fail just like that , It would always wiggle no matter how much I tightened it "my first bike ever" so AFTER THE FAIL . I took an old tube and cut it open wrapped the bar then secured the tnk ..no more wiggle, wiggle and "Knock on wood " no more stud failures since.

I use thick chunks of rubber handgrip to mount my tanks. Works great!
It was just a bad weld where the stud was inserted into the tank.

Has anyone tried the under the rack tank with a 4 stroke Grubee or 77Preditor?
I wonder about flow issues, I do not want to buy one, and find out it doesn't work...
That is how I ended up with a pile of 2 stroke parts...lol

I'm kinda looking for the right motorcycle tank to mount on it. Haven't found one I like yet, at least not that I can afford.

    I wish I hadn't read this thread.

I was thinking, "Yeah, fuel tank stud failure is not uncommon." And of course I was hoping that it doesn't happen to me.

And now I feel like I'm Jinxed.

If it does happen, though, then here's a thread ready-made for me to post it in.
