Anyone have a source for these? Been on back order at Niagara Cycle for a few months now and I'm tired of spending an hour making them out of plastic meds-bottle caps & having them wear out in a few months : (

Yeah, I don't run one on my rear wheel due to the rear sprocket. And I'm too lazy to pull it apart and check it too.

What about stuff extra grease on the outside of the hub?

that doesn't last at motor speeds - grease isn't the largest problem tho, as sand & grit get in there with the grease - half the guys coming in with busted back wheels have thrown the damn thing away rather than hog out the sprocket to fit it

I've got 136 mi with a mostly uncovered rear bearing on the engine side of the wheel with no problems yet.

I've got a stack of wheels in the back yard with cracked hubs & some with the hub side of the bearing race completely broken off - would be nice to be able to fix it before that happens.
