Got my 212cc harbor freight engine and was wondering will it work if I mount the engine 180 degrees from the picture, so the chain is on the other side? I read that for some reason the engine wouldnt run right if I did this but it does not make sense to me.

The counter clockwise rotation of the shaft,
it will work fine as long as you want to go 50 mph in reverse LOL:)
hope that clears it up for you

thanks, I thought that would be the only issue but that can be solved with a jackshaft correct

this motor turns counter clockwise from the factory

yes it does and that's the problem.
It would take more than a simple jackshaft to do it
everyone here says NO, no way to do it with out reversing the direction of the crank!

But I do have a design in mind, just need a shop and materials to make it
happen ! ANYBODY WITH A SHOP NEAR ME AND INTERESTED PM ME FOR MORE INFO!!!

Joker Machine solved the motor direction drive problem by making
    a one off reversing gearbox.

I don't remember who the member here was who already reversed
a large 4 stroke motor in the frame by using a sprocket driving off
the outside of a chain to reverse the direction of rotation.
Sorry, but can't be bothered searching for it. ;)

It was not very aesthetically pleasing which kind of defeats the
purpose of having the cylinder face forward.

    EDIT:
    That was the one! :D
