I decided to build me another board tracker, only this time I’m going old school. I started with a older girls bike. Cut the frame up and made a drop loop frame to rich I plan to add a 3 1/2hp Briggs engine. I also am looking at making this one a belt drive by adding a 24” rim to the rear 26” wheel .

Well I went and picked up a 1949 B&S 5S which is 2” bore x1.5” stroke , coming in at a little under 1 hp. I didn’t take any pics, but I got it home, torn down and inspected. Looks in great shape for it’s age.
 
I’m debating on how to mount my rim. My thought was to weld the tabs, much like yours directly to the pulley/rim and bolt it to the wheel rim. I’m thinking of riveting a leather strap around the inside of the pulley/rim using the original spoke holes.
My plan originally was to use a ribbed serpentine automotive belt for the drive, now I’m thinking about just a plain flat leather belt.
 
Don't use leather, just keeps starching, use the serpentine, that is what I am using. My pulley I made to drive, free from alternator shop, bore to 3/4" the sleeve to 5/8" shaft. I just welded it on

I flattened out Butten head bolts to mound, drilled through the rim. in between the spokes. Hope this all helps..............Curt

Curt, I think I’ll probable go with a serpentine drive belt and drive pulley. However I think I will still rivet a leather liner to the inside of the wheel pulley. On a different note, do you have any info as to where I can get a internal throttle for a 7/8 handle bar ?

Indian 22 is building one now https://motorbicycling.com/threads/old-guys-simplex-moto-peddle-bike.57770/page-147 You don't really ne a liner on the inside of the big pulley serpentine belts for auto have 5 or 6 groves same as having 5 or6 V belts, the biggest slippage is on the small drive pulley, that's why I went with alternator pulley, but what ever you use make sure it's about 3". Back in the 50's I had a Monark twin and that was where it had the most slippage. .....Curt
 
As luck would have it, there is a business right here in my town that sells parts for older Honda mini/trail bikes and three wheelers as well as other things. I got ahold of the owner and he has all the components for the internal throttle, including grips, cables and bushings. These are for a trail 70 so the grips are just a tad shorter than a bicycle grip. I’m not sure of the price yet, but I’m thinking under $50. I plan on getting a set later this week from him to check it out. Sounds like all I’ll have to do is cut a slot that’s rounded on both ends in my handle bar and cut a elongated hole in the bar where the cable exits. Good thing is the trail 70 has 7/8” bars so should be rather a easy set up.
 
Thank you both, hopefully over the next few weeks I can get the motor mounted and the rear framework re configured to accommodate the wheel with the rim/pulley attached. I’m thinking that the left side of the frame will have to unbolt to remove the wheel.
