Is it ok to remove a clutch cover screw?

I have a shift kit from sbp and a 66cc chinese motor. The right side chain is rubbing against one of the tabs for mounting the clutch cover. Would it be safe to remove the tab and screw? There's no more room to adjust the engine mounts to move the chain away from the cover.

In this instance--Sure-- I don't see why not.

I leave the screw in and use the angle grinder to just grind that tab down to the top of the screw, even into it some but still leaving enough head to get it out.

That usually does the trick.
