Frame tubing

    who has built a bike frame using ERW tubing?

    You want butted tubing for weight, it is however somewhat expensive. As I understand, erw is weaker than others like DOM. You might be able to use DOM, but I'm no expert.

    ERW is plenty strong enough for frame building on a bike,not near as heavy as a mottorcycle. Most motorcycle builders us the DOM. I have a friend that used a Honda gold wing head and the rest of the bike is ERW it has a V-8 60 flathead engine in it and it is holding up good.............Curt
