    Gear ratios and speed help?

Hey guys, I'm building my 150cc fat tire bike. I have used the ratio/speed calculator and got a 8:1 ratio for ~48mph. Is this a realistic speed for my bike with 26" rim?

Gear Ratio with Predator 212cc and jackshaft

Thanks AGreen & Tony01! Exactly the answers I'm looking for! I'm gonna aim at a 8:1 ratio and hope it doesn't cook my clutch!

Gear Ratio with Predator 212cc and jackshaft

Thanks for the calculator. But I am still not finding answers to my question as to whether the 5:1 (12 tooth drive & 60 tooth driven) ratio would cook my centrifugal clutch or not if I'm running a 150cc motor (red line 7000rpm) which has much more torque than a 49cc. Or should I go for a larger...

Gear Ratio with Predator 212cc and jackshaft

Hey! Just checking in with my 150cc GY6 fat bike build. I am beginning the final stages with doing my gearing. So far I have (on paper) a 5:1 (12 on the clutch and 60 on the axle) gear ratio on a 26 inch drive wheel. I intend to mount the rear sprocket to where the rear disc brake rotor is now...

    Gear Ratio??

Hey! Just checking in with my 150cc GY6 fat bike build. I am beginning the final stages with doing my gearing. So far I have (on paper) a 5:1 (12 on the clutch and 60 on the axle) gear ratio on a 26 inch drive wheel. What do you think about this ratio? Will it eat up my centrifugal clutch...

    New Project

Thanks Curt! As a follow up question: Are you suggesting that i mount the sprocket to the 14 gauge spokes? Or continue to utilize where the 6 bolt rear disc brake rotor should go?

    New Project

I too am having thoughts about wheel building. Local bike shop was no help at all! My bike was a donor Mongoose Dolomite fat tire bike with dual disc brakes and steel deep-dish rims. The thoughts I am having are because I am running a GY6 150cc engine and if the the stock hubs, spokes, and rims...

    50cc GY6 on a Bicycle??

Hello all! It has been a while but, I did get a brand new GY6 150 in the mail. I completely gutted the "horrendous" 50cc build and started over. The new design involves a single speed, auto clutch, GY6 150cc (which I cut in half to fit), chain driven to a sprocket that will take the place of the...

    50cc GY6 on a Bicycle??

Hey! I am building a fat tire (mongoose dolomite) custom frame and gas tank bike. My mandatory specs were that it had to have disc brakes front and rear, 4 stroke motor, and shift with no manual clutch (shifter kit from Bike Berry). The problem I am having seems to be that the 49cc motor (also...

    Custom Bike Problems

Thanks Curt! I am still trying to utilize the original rear cassette and shifter so that I may run through all 7 gears for a more useable ride. Rather than going with a larger single gear, I am thinking about using a more powerful motor. Hence the 150cc Gy6. Does anyone have any experience with...
