HI All, two not so simple questions.

The KTMC is a much better engine but you do have to fab up your own mounts by welding tabs or brackets to the frame so the engine can be bolted in... some people have successfully used sections of tubing split in half and clamped to the frame with all tabs and brackets welded to these sections...

    First Build: Huffy Cranbrook Cruiser

I'd definitely add a front brake as soon as I could as well.. Other than that it's a nice build... I'd also be a bit leery of leaving the fenders on the bike as they can cause some bad wrecks if the brackets come loose. Be careful... these things can become quite addictive...

Can I add an external cdi to my internal one?

As for the possibility of putting an external cdi on these engines goes, I think your on the right track about getting a second unit to cut open and see if it's easily doable... you will need the mag coil from the original unit and if you can separate the mag coil from the cdi by opening it up...

    Rear engine mount to small

Another way to get a near perfect fit would be to get it close with a sanding drum then get some stick on DA sanding discs and stick one onto the frame tubing and run the mount over the sanding disc stuck to the frame tube. This will get the fit near perfect with little effort. A solid billet...

    Ford carburetor blues...

I've rebuilt one of these carbs about 6 months ago and the customer brought me an older carb that didn't have the mixture solenoid to rebuild in install in its place. The carb rebuild went really smooth but the truck did surge really badly and had a rough idle so I double checked everytying, the...

Engine locks up on bottom dead center

I also agree... everything looks ok in there... if you want to replace the main bearings, be sure to get good ones like skf or Timken and you can get the sealed ones, just remove the inner seal and leave the outer seal in place, this will allow the oil to get into the bearings but give you and...

Can I add an external cdi to my internal one?

I wouldn't waste my money on the jaguar cdi... it retards the timing too much to the point it loses too much power, even set at the most aggressive timing curve, it comes in last place in every cdi shootout that's been done by members in here... Here's a thread on several cdi units that have...

    Engine temp? 230?

One of the few off the shelf oils that still has a good zinc content is Shell Rotella, I use that in my Intruder 1400 and have used it for all of its 60,000 miles of hard riding. The reason Rotella still has a nice ziuc content is because it's not regulated the same way motor oils for passenger...

Need some help with Vintage headbadges guys!

Don't know too much about the ones you got, but they look nice, some may be worth a few bucks if you can find someone who's looking for a certain one or collects these... definitely worth researching...

    Gas tanks!!!

Looks like something you could make yourself next time out of some L brackets and zip ties, I can't tell from the pictures if the L brackets are made of plastic or metal, but either way, they should work.... but yeah, come back in and report how it works once you get it...

    Fat bikes

The fat tire bikes are definitely doable for motorizing and most of them use some type of offset mount to keep the engine drive sprocket in line with the rear sprocket. Otherwise the rest of the installation is fairly easy, there are a few YouTube videos that show how they mounted the engines...

"Flea Hopper"- now "Flea Hobbler", as is myself ;-/.

Ouch!!! I know that's gotta hurt.... and don't even get me started on the health care... I'm paying $1200 per month for and they barely cover what I need it for... I remember 30 years ago it was all free for me being an army brat, but even after I had my own health insurance after i turned 21 it...

    POS clutch arm screws

You could also drill the hex socket round and use a larger easy out to get them out if they're seized in there that bad. Another nice tool to have is a screw knocker, it's an aircraft tool for removing stubborn or seized screws by using a rivet gun and putting a phillps, standard, torx, or allen...

How to easily determine which engine i have.

I agree... the ID code on the connecting rod as well as the piston pin location is the best way to check what you got and what's compatible with your engine... there are a lot of parts that can mix and match once you know the pin location and the stroke.

    Tuning with temp?

You can definitely feel it when you get past the peak of the top end because the bike will pull and accelerate really well up to the peak and then the power will quickly start to fall off on the other side of the peak where it'll still accelerate, but at a much slower rate. If your engine is...

    Is this too big***

That carb should work just fine on a 79cc Pred... The actual throttle slide and venturi is definitely bigger, but not by so much that it would be a nightmare to tune, just match port the intake so there's not a ridge or overhang at the intake/carb mating and it'll work.

    Man....this is TIGHT !!! GT LTS-2 frame

Very Nice!! You should be able to tilt the engine a little more forward and cut the rear mount block enough to fit a Fred head. My roadmaster frame was really tight like that and I got it to fit with a Fred head by cutting the rear mount block way down then used a die grinder and a 1" daimeter...

    Gas tanks!!!

Very Nice Tank... And the price is really good too... I would prefer something more in the 2 to 3 liter range just for appearance reasons, but with 5 liters of fuel you can go a really long way between fill ups, The nice thing about this one tho is even tho it's a 5 liter, it's not too tall or...

    Tuning with temp?

Yes, temperature is a really good way to tune as long as you got accurate equipment and take the readings from the same place every time... something like a spark plug mounted temp probe is an excellent way to get consistant results and can be monitored by a really small digital gauge that can...
