what did you do to your motorized bicycle today?

Re: what did you do to your motor bike today? First of all A huge thanks to everyone on this forum who've answered my questions, posted how-to's and have given insight. This has been a few weeks in the making. Not a whole lot of tweaking or mods, just some basics and some cosmetic...

    Motovelo?

I had a bad experience w/ MV and won't deal with them again . 'nuff said. However, offering / showcasing basic mods that even a novice like myself can do is not a bad thing. As an analogy; I work w /computers, networking, that sort of stuff and there are those who just want the computer to...

    Dropout Drama

OK, so here is what is going on with my dropout (right side). I've taken the rear wheel off several times over the past month or so and I let the washers get beyond their usefulness. I've read some of the advice on the forums and it looks like I'll put star washers closest in, followed by flat...

@ Rohmell - The nylon nuts are for the engine mounts. Taking Decorence's advice and using doubles on both manifolds.

    Amsoil Interceptor

For me, I'm running Home Depot off-the-shelf synthetic 2 cycle found in the weed whacker section @ 24:1 (break in) then I'll move to 32 ~ 40:1 after break in with the same stuff. Right now plug has a good mocha color. Question is, Would it make a noticeable difference (both performance and HT...

    fixe at walmart

Looking at this post and the picks you posted, looks like you'll remove the fixe sprocket, slap on the 44T standard MB sprocket after the center hole's been enlarged, and then put back the fixe sprocket. Do I have it correct?? I've got one of these fixe bikes on layaway and will be tackling...

what did you do to your motorized bicycle today?

Re: what did you do to your motor bike today? @happy - That is freakin' awesome. Thanks for sharing. Need to shoot a vid of the missus opening up the bike to where it sounds like a weed whacker burning jet fuel.

When is it time to kiss your China Doll goodbye?

I believe the general agreement is that a standard HT 80cc will give you from 2000 - 6000 miles, maybe more, with decent care. At which point do you stop replacing parts, i.e. cylinder rings, piston, etc ... and get a new engine?? While I'm at it; question. My kit came without an inline fuel...

    fixe at walmart

Went to wally mart and checked it out ...light, simple design, thin frame, 10-speed style wheels. sprockets on each side, but looks like they can be removed fairly easily. The seat is one of those hard, tiny racing seats. Put one of the ugly ducks on layaway. reddd

What type of chain do I have??

'nother question ...I have china doll standard 80cc. I want to get the correct chain break tool, but I do not know what type of chain I have. I think the consensus is my chain is most likely a #410. I don't even know what that means. Is there a way to tell, without question, what type of...

what did you do to your motorized bicycle today?

Re: what did you do to your motor bike today? Went to a local motorcycle shop and picked up replacement spark plug wires & tubing. Went with an NGC waterproof connector and about 2 ft of cable. When my plugs arrive I'll change out the stock and see how she runs. Also washed my bike. Other than...

    The Dremel dilemma

Thanks all! I'm still new at this but getting better. I think I'll go with the B&D rotary tool. I don't run a shop, so at this point I just need it to get my mounts sized right, but I don't like chinsy tools.

    The Dremel dilemma

Filing, cutting, grinding and polishing ....these all require different dremel bits. Each of the different places a dremel is called for should be using a bit designed for that job. For example, grinding engine mounts to make them fit, porting and polishing an exhaust, filing or grinding this...

Best method for mounting the engine / manifold bolts?

Here is where I stand today - tapped out the engine mounts as far as I could. I originally got Kobalt tools from Lowes, but the wrench (tried two) just would not hold the bit. Went to HD and got an Irwin wrench and that works peachy. I am awaiting for a cylinder head to arrive and once it...

Best method for mounting the engine / manifold bolts?

After reading thru some threads and being directed to a search by decoherence I wanna run this past you all and see if it makes sense and if there might be a better way. The mounts, top and bottom, along with the intake manifold are studs. The outtake manifold is bolted on. My idea is to tap...
