Howdy folks, Thanks @Velodrome, the boy is doing well. No longer in constant pain, gets around on the knee scooter without a problem. We'll see how things go once the doc gives a "removal of plates and screws" date. @Tom from Rubicon, You mentioned about an engine mount. Since I plan...

Well howdy folks, Only been about 2 months since the start of all this. With what was our holiday schedule, and with my son still living with us (and looks like he's gonna be here awhile) time was at a premium. They say that next month they may be taking the hardware out of his leg, so he's...

Bought a 4 stroke kit from BikeBerry

@Seabass, I guess I could bolt them in place........nooooo, I couldn't do that. I have my welder sitting there calling my name and it would be a complete cop out on my part, lol. Keep those reminders coming friend, I can use them. I also decided no matter how loud the welder calls me, I'm...

Bought a 4 stroke kit from BikeBerry

I thought about brazing the supports on. I know brazing works well, but if I remember correctly, not for this type of butt joint. I'm I correct?

Bought a 4 stroke kit from BikeBerry

I'm not much of a welder, but at least I can say I've done this type of stuff before... That was my third or fourth recumbent I built and the only picture I can find of any of them. Keep reminding me of what to watch for and be careful about, it's been awhile since I've had the welder in my...

built a low rider, but bike is unstable. anyone know why ?

That answer isn't really very good is it? Once you know a bit about rake and trail, there are a number of things you can change that will change the rake and trail. The angle of the head tube, the curve of the forks, adding a spacer to move the tire forward or backward (kinda like a springer...

built a low rider, but bike is unstable. anyone know why ?

I read a bunch about rake and trail. I then went to a standard bike that was stock and measured out the rake and trail of it and compared it to what I had read about so I knew that I was figuring things out correctly and I had the measurements of a bike that worked well. I ended up changing...

built a low rider, but bike is unstable. anyone know why ?

I've built a few recumbents in the past. Had that type of problem on the first one, very wobbly feeling to it. Come to find out, it was the rake and trail of the front end. A couple of changes made it a very useful bike, so maybe that's it? Good luck.

Bought a 4 stroke kit from BikeBerry

@Slogger At first all I could imagine was what would happen during vibration, then I read the pdf. Sounds like it could be an option, thank you. @ragdolldude Thought about it, but I have to fill that gap. Using inner tube...or any sheet rubber would be just as much fun as using coke cans...

Help Please, mounting 4 stroke to Micargi stretch

hmmmm, That's what I thought might happen (the leaning part), that's why I was wondering about a set screw. Was wondering if that would fix the problem. So, I should use the seat tube and the down tube (where it actually sweeps upward) and make my connections there so the chance of rotation on...
