Fun video from the other side of the world

I saw this video on YouTube today, really inspiring what 2 hp, suspension and fairings can do for everyone on the cheap. I'm not affiliated in any manner, just thought it was nice how a bike came together so well using parts from other stuff. Its very fast and cost very little by using...

    52cc Predator Auger Powered X-Games FS20 BMX

I cleaned up the bike, it's all good except that I need to reconnect some fuel lines at the bottle that popped off since it's been dry. Haven't had the time and energy to do much on this except for gripping the running skateboards tonight. Gotta get out there, fire up the engine, u-bolt them...

52cc Stage 2 CAG CVT powered X-Games Motobike

Just an update on the parts, got the caliper set and the BMX detangler cable in. The calipers are indeed mirrored units, and they come with a set of pads in them and an extra set for each. The detangler splitter looks like it will work, I checked out the cable lengths on my disc brake mini velo...

52cc Stage 2 CAG CVT powered X-Games Motobike

So I'm trying to geek out and get stuff done while I'm still motivated, work and skateboarding have been a distraction from making progress. I'm figuring out how to attach a second disc to the right side of the front wheel, not as easy as it seems. All the threaded adapters for ISO 44mm PCD...

52cc Stage 2 CAG CVT powered X-Games Motobike

Thanks Rick, it's been a lot of fun, I can't wait to get back riding! I finally bit the bullet and ordered the brake parts, I know I still haven't gotten to starting it up and doing the derailleur and cassette... It's gonna look sick though, twin red brake calipers and some floating rotors...

52cc Stage 2 CAG CVT powered X-Games Motobike

All of the parts have arrived, I'm hoping to find the time to get it all together very soon. I found a hydraulically damped adjustable shock that's a direct fit for this frame called the Chaser. It's a nice little shock for the money, has the right spring rate on it already too. I'll post pics...

    Hauno Style BMX Build

I think the framework you made around the bottom bracket area for the carburetor is genius. Those reed engines love to rev and make great power, I think you will be able to get 40+ mph with gearing. I think the motorized BMX is so awesome, it's a childhood dream that actually lives up to...

    Hauno Style BMX Build

I like your take on the FS20 frame, it looks very nice with the Cag engine in there. I've build one of these BMX as well and It has been fun! https://motorbicycling.com/threads/52cc-predator-auger-powered-x-games-fs20-bmx.45772/

    52cc Predator Auger Powered X-Games FS20 BMX

I'm finally going to make it official and turn this bike into a scooter with floorboards. Stand up scooters like gopeds can be ridden with a drivers license without registration and don't have pedals. You've gotta have a floorboard though, pegs are a gray area I'm not sure about. In the X-games...

52cc Stage 2 CAG CVT powered X-Games Motobike

It has been a couple of years since I last rode this bike and I really miss the fun. I'm going to be cleaning her up and getting ready to ride again. I'm pretty excited about some upgrades I'll be doing to further fulfill the potential it has. The upgrade I've planned first is to widen the...

    Pocket bike powered bicycle

30:1 to 20:1 gearing on a pocketbike engine from crankshaft:wheel woks good for about 30 to 40 mph respectively on 20 inch wheels. They really liven up when you can utilize the high revs with the centrifugal clutch fully engaged. You can lighten the clutch arms and get more pickup, but it makes...

Can you get back the $ you put into a bike?

I think that's a good plan, if you hear it right you may be able to enjoy some dirt bike trails with it. With a jackshaft you could route the engine power to a derailleur. I think a strong MTB cassette and cassette driver freewheel can handle the torque better than geared hubs in general, but...

Can you get back the $ you put into a bike?

Took another look at the Oregon laws because I don't want to spread misinformation. If you keep it under 50cc and have all the Dot stuff like a moped you should be able to register it. If you register it as a moped with a 212cc installed, I'm not really sure what you would be charged with if...

Can you get back the $ you put into a bike?

Ah never mind, sounds like you might have issues trying to register it in Oregon because it isn't a mass manufactured and tested moped. This thread talks about it, very unfortunate... http://motorbicycling.com/showthread.php?t=4190 Maybe build a full-on motorcycle with all the turn signals...

Can you get back the $ you put into a bike?

Why can't you register it as a moped? I seriously doubt that you will get in trouble as long as you abide by the speed limits for a moped/motorized bicycle. If you ruffle feathers, well, you're prolly gonna get a ticket and the bike impounded whether it's legal by displacement or not.

Can you get back the $ you put into a bike?

Even though it is difficult to make a profit when letting go of your motorized bike, I can guarantee that the learning experience and fun are well worth the money and effort. I think that the main reason keeping market prices on used bikes low is that there are millions of mopeds, scooters, and...

Can you get back the $ you put into a bike?

I gave up trying to sell my previous full custom bikes. I posted them locally on CL and in the sale section here, never got a binding agreement to sell at cost of parts, just offers for trades and services. I'm just going to keep them and trick them out with updates and mods, it would be nice to...

Generator giving me more horsepower, seemingly?

I'm thinking that maybe the charging circuit could allow for a stronger spark by providing a more constant dc current to the ignition if wired a certain way, especially after looking at this diagram:

Generator giving me more horsepower, seemingly?

I wonder if the generator circuit is working in reverse and operating somwhat like a DC motor until a certain RPM over which it generates voltage over that of the battery and charges it. I know it's a longshot but it could possibly happen if there isn't diodes in the system. If you post up your...

    Pocket bike powered bicycle

Great job with your cafe build! These are my favorite type of motorized bikes and I always gotta give props for a well made ride! I like the jackshaft axle in the bottom bracket.
