Hello all! I've recently built a motorized bicycle with a bike from a yard sale. I ordered an 80cc engine kit from eBay and have it all assembled. I want to get this bike registered with a class B plate. I plan on having the engine tagged or stamped stating that it is a 48cc engine, that way I can go for the class B and not the class A. It has a headlight, turn signals (front and back), left and right mirrors, a bracket to hold a registration plate, and a tail light with a built-in brake light feature. After I get the engine stamped stating that it is a 48cc engine, will this form be the only thing I need to get it registered?
Motor Driven Cycle (MDC) Affidavit - Affirmation of Ownership and/or Cubic Centimeters (CC) - State Form 55714
BTW I'm in Indiana and I do have a driver's license. I want the class B that way I don't have to get insurance and take a motorcycles endorsement test.

Update: The BMV lady registered it for me and all went well! Took like 10 mins lol.
But I just made up a number for the VIN. I did check online to make sure it wasn't taken by something else. Anyways. I ordered a small metal plate that lets you put your own numbers on it and the plate says VIN on it. Do I just tack weld it to the frame of the bike?

The penalty for perjury on a state form in Indiana is

Making false, material statements of fact is called perjury. It constitutes a level six felony, and can result in imprisonment for up to six months–sometimes in some circumstances up to a year–and penalties such as fines up to $10,000.

Yes but the bmv lady said I can use any number on the bike including the serial, tank, engine, or any number on any major part. So how would they know?

I only see a problem if you were using the vin# on a similar vehicles . Like another motorized bike.Or reattaching a vin plate from another vehicle to yours. But numbers are numbers.Copying numbers off of something and reusing them doesn’t seem illegal?

I only have one bike, I checked online to make sure nothing else has already claimed it. So I ordered a custom vin number plate on Amazon. Which the company will put the vin number on it for me.

`you had the right to travel on a bicycle now you have no rights anymore you gave them away with a lie sense. You delivering packages for Fed Ex or UPS? NO! then you do not need permission to travel on the road. makes as much sense as getting a lie sense for the shoes you wear.

I checked the law for indiana, which is my state, and the law says they must be registered if motorized by a gas engine.

A Forum member looking to get on the road.. So take the number off of your frame as vin. Then take a picture of it and the entire bike. Register it. Then buy a ebay HomeBuilt vin tag and put the frame number on that. It’s just a easier to see plate. Some times they give you a vin number ( certain states) then you but it on a tag ! Using you numbers is not illegal.

I bet you that opinion, statute, policy, is not written in english either. look up that opinion to see if the wording any word is an all capital letters, if it is it is not english but rather dog latin. Total fraud.

Ya you're very right about that. I could've used the one on the frame. I didnt know there was one under the pedals. But I already have this number that I made up on the registration and the custom VIN tag I ordered with the numbers on that aswell. So both will have matching numbers and I'll try to get the VIN plate attached to the frame pretty well with glue or maybe even some rivets. I already have it registered, I even have my temporary plate too. Although I cant wait for the metal one in the mail so I can attach it to the back properly
