So after all this...
hi there, i have already pull the head cylinder apart. Is there anything in particualr i need to look for?
as for the above three, their is spark, there is fuel and air, so it must be compression. I just dont really know what to look for
cheers
Let's go back to the beginning. When you stated above you had your cyl. off. Did it look like this pic?

I don't understand why you have not answered questions I have clearly asked. I put out to to help you. I am not an ego driven know it all. I'm Just trying to help that's all. GET YOUR DARN COMPRESSION CHECKED. The end...

if tht was my jug, i'd change it. gotta be leaking like a sieve.

the thing is, somedays it is working. other days it is spluttering and wont reach max rpm and when the clutch goes in, and stalls.
I am thinking that maybe it could be a faulty CDI? what do you guys reckon. Also any hints on how to fix a clutch lever that when it goes in, its fine, but when i let it out theres no spring anymore?
cheers

Don't do anything yet. To me from your description it's sounds carb related. Too much fuel. If anything I would raise the clip position on your carb needle.

Not sure what you mean in/out? Clutch is engaged cable should be relaxed. Clutch Disengaged cable should be under tension. Maybe cable adjustment at the lever or at the motor case.

No No don't go there yet. Be sure spark plug boot is tight on plug / re-check all wiring watch this vid

yep, it's not the CDI, a friend borrowed me his and it didn't change. I think you are right, how many notches should i raise that little clip? or should i drill a bigger hole in the main jet? Cheers

Do not drill a bigger hole in the jet. Raise the clip position 1 notch then test it this will lower the needle allowing less fuel. your problem is too much fuel.

I have already raised the clip 1 notch and have also lowered it one notch. I can't say it was much different, unfortunately.

So raise the clip all the way to the top and try that. Other than that you will need to adjust the float. Use the search feature here on this forum. Wish you the best.

Scrap my previous reply --------after taking another look at that cylinder obviously it is spauling/flaking, replace it and start over.
it doesnt feel or look like its peeling though. it just has a couple different coloured lighter spots on it and when i run my finger i cant feel anything bad. Do you really think this is the problem?

you think it could be a timing issue?
it works some days, and backfires occasionaly, and sometimes stutters?
cheers

O.K. again. Timing is not adjustable. It is set at the factory. If the key is sheared or partially cut or the rotating magnet is loose enough to cause it to wiggle on the shaft, THAT is the only thing which could cause a timing issue. A few replys back, I asked you to check that. Did you?
If this is not the prob

Now- how about the magneto,,,, that would be that horse shoe shaped part which surrounds the spinning magnet with the wires coming out . These Do go bad.

Yes, I checked that little magnet, and the magneto, nothing looks wrong with it, it still has magnetic force, and for that picture above, I swapped that with my friend and it didn't make a difference.
We also swapped carbs, but that didn't do anything either.
Any other ideas?
I maybe think this might be related, but also might not. When I turn my fuel tap on, fuel doesn't immediately fill up in the filter. AT ALL.
When I do get it going though, and give it throttle, I can see fuel in there.
Any ideas
Cheers

Sounds like you have a vent problem in the cap, not getting roper air in the tank. Also make sure there is nothing in the tank, sometimes come with crud in the tank........Curt

yep, checked all fuel filters and drained the tank, no crud etc.
I'm thinking, after all, it may be the cylinder head. Do all these symptoms line up to a bad cylinder head?
any idea where I can buy a good quality one possibly with more ports. would more ports work with a stock cylinder or no?
Also, anyone knows where to buy a c clip from the carb? I lost mine *sheepish grin*
cheers
