anyone ever tried making the mixture really rich and then adding nitromethane to lean it out for a little more power? Seems to work on dragsters.

I'm game for some experimentation.

I always wanted to play with race fuels. Alcohol, aviation gas, nitromethane, etc.

Be sure to give me a heads-up so I can wear my ear defenders before you hit the gas..
I'll probably hear the bang from here...and I'm in the UK!

it will work. you have to way up the jet and give it a straight pipe. wouldn't hurt to change the magneto coil out to a higher voltage one and a motorcycle ignition. you can run rc fuel in these, with just a few mods. just don't expect the engine to last very long. you can do it though.

get one of those big bore pocket bike engines, with balance crank, 52cc i think. if you really want a drag bike, add that to a 20 inch wheel base bike or even a 16 inch. tht bike will take off like a rocket.

After a bit of research it seems that the mixture would be 20-60% nitromethane, the rest methanol or alcohol. With a slightly oilier mix, around 15 to 1, rather than 20 to 1.

Like Jimmy Bloodmaker stated, you'd do best with bigger jets and a hotter ignition.

with nitro and alcohol/methanol fuel, you better believe you need tht hotter spark. two fuels tht don't like to burn very easy, especially at the concentrations you are gonna want them for maximum power. motor longevity is a mute point though, the engine is gonna be junk after one good pull. not tht it would be hard to rebuild for another run in an hour or two.

NHRA nitro burning top fuel engines are rebuilt after every 4 second run.
-I don't know if that is the case with the nitro Harley Davidson race engines.
