I just recently bought and what I'm guessing is an 80cc Chinese I was thinking of going down to the 28 tooth rear sprocket
80 is really a 66cc.
28 tooth rear sprocket is only for a highly modified engine.

Depending on your weight and if you have hills to climb a 36 tooth would
be the smallest for a stock engine.
Have you tried riding with the usual 44 tooth sprocket?

I ended up using a 41 tooth on my 66cc bike, on the 48cc the 44 was better. It all depends on your weight, the terrain where you ride and how much you want to pedal. I have modified both motors with custom pipes, the 48cc actually went slower with a smaller sprocket because it was not in the power band. I would suggest you try it as it comes and go from there.

Do you realize this was started back in 2011? LOL! Actual cc of a 80 is 66cc China rating is different.

If it is a 26" wheel 28 tooth will not work, unless it's a shift kit drive. If not a 40 tooth would the smallest you want to start with........Curt
That's not true I'm using 28t single speed on. My cruiser with my 80cc it's mounted on my disk brake mount and I get 70 80 kmh out of it on flat ground and it goes
