need advice on new build. please help

my first bike was a wally world schwinn swindler. I broke spokes on rear tire,

turns out no one makes 27.5 inch wheels with coaster brake.

what I am looking for is a 26inch bike. I like cruisers beause I dont like gears and

I dont think its necessary with the motor. The catch is I would like something

with a front disk brake and front suspesion. I would prefer a steel frame.

Any thoughts?

You wont find a cruiser with a front shock or disc brake but no biggie, just get a new front fork.

This is a 26" Micargi Pantera steel frame bike and just replaced the front fork with a shock fork that had both V-brake and Disc Brake mounts.
I just used the V-brakes.
~$120.



You will also need a new disc compatible front wheel, and of course the disc and caliper but actually quite easy to do.
Most beach cruiser use a 1" threaded steerer tube, but there are also 1 1/8" tubes as well a non threaded tubes so choose wisely.

gasbike has absolutely NOTHING genuine Skyhawk, hasn't for a few years as they were banned from even buying the parts wholesale because of their knock-off scams.

Don Grube has several pending lawsuits against Nationwide Access (gablike, Kings) for trademark and trade name infringement.

Anything at their sites claiming Skyhawk or using their naming numbering like GT anything is an outright rip-off inferior quality part.

Consider yourself warned.

Apparently a couple of Iranian guys own Nationwide Access and work out of LA scamming the **** out of Americans with what amounts to identity theft of known good brand names to sell ****.

Good scam for them I guess.

Not so friendly to Don, the Gurbee name and Shyhawk name however.
Quality is in the factory the parts are made, and guidelines for quality are set by strict standards.

Using a knock off don't mean bad, but it does mean they don't have enough faith in their own **** to give it a real brand name or ever be reasonable for the **** they send out every day is all.

Roll the dice, or just buy the real stuff is all I can say.

I thank you for replying to my thread about seleting a new

frame. I was aware of kings/gasbike shady reputation.

I dont have enough money to mess around and get burned.

I was thinking of geting one of the skyhawk frames but

I cant find anyone who has the frame without the

pedastal mount. The pantera looks good, I was looking

at bikebuyers.com, just had a couple of questions I

wanted to run by somebody who knows what they are

doing. Im think disk in front and v brakes on the back.

could you confirm the pantera has v brake mounts?

they monarch springer forks look cool, no doubt,but im

thinking a more modern shock fork would perform

better and be more practical. Also I would like a

fork that already has they mounts for disk, I wonder

about the reliability of the adapters. Could you

recomend a fork? Last I was looking on bicycledesigner.com

I was thinking of geting one of there wheelset with

front disk and geting the adapter to have the drive

sprocket atach directly to the rear hub eliminating

any chance of tearing through spokes.

Sorry forgot one thing: on bikebuyers.com it says that the max weight limit for the pantera

is 200 lbs. Im kinda a chubby b@*tard, 245lbs. do you think I will be alright?

sorry i havnt checked this in a while,

new build is almost complete. I wanted to thank everyone for thier sugestions and advice. I couldnt have done it without you.

P.S. el gallow ive lost five pounds, dont worry i wasnt offended.dance1

I went with,
bike: micargi pantera
Fork: suntour XCM (cut down)
Wheels: disk brake and flip flop, 68 spoke from bicycle designer:; same as sissy trike rider
sprocket and adapter: 40t also from bicycle designer
Brakes: V that came with bike (had problems with front disk wheel)
throttle: one of the ones with the little pully
brake levers:came with bike
tires: maxxis holy rollers
engine, carb, clutch lever,grips,fuel tank: from first build

Im expirencing a set back at the moment. My stem will not properly engage the sterrer, the nut is also stripping out so im having trouble removing it.

also the wheel setup has yet to be tested. I could not get the wheel with the disk brake rotor to fit between my front fork blades. the rear sprocket basically just screws onto a flip flop hub, the roblem being that the chain torque will just unscrew it. The instructions I got from bicycle designer were to use a lot of red locktite wich may work as there are many small threads. I screwed the adapter on to make sure it aligned right and now I cant get the thing off. I plan to use the engine to break it free and then try locktighting the bejesus out of it. Unfortunately I will have to address the stem first.
