I hit my first snag last night with the front motor mount. Everything else fits well and no clearance issue's it looks like. I was planning on using LincolnMercury's idea: 1 1/2 inch exhaust clamp to 1/4 inch plate with 4 holes. Basically the same idea right?

fitting the engine/rear wheel sprocket:

Total I spent about 2 hours on things last night before getting sidetracked. No issue with the cranks hitting the engine, I think the rest will come together quick, and the rear wheel was the biggest issue since I don't have a socket set handy and using a wrench with spokes is a pain. Excuse to get a socket set I guess.

I figure I'll paint the whole thing gloss black and it will blend right in. make 1/4" plate 2" x 2 1/2" drill some holes and good to go..hopefully :/

Making and modifying parts as you go is almost a tradition with these kits lol.

Just make sure you tighten it down as best you can without crushing the bike tube. I think you'll be just fine making your own plate.

Still waiting on my engine to be shipped. Ordered it Tuesday, supposed to go out Wednesday. Fedex still hasn't picked it up ARGGG

Be sure to post a pic of your front mount when you get it done.

Thanks for the tip man. Good luck on the engine BTW. Bikeberry did well by me but they look back ordered for another month. I've been looking into shipping lots direct from China Gas, but you have to buy pallets of the things at a time. Anybody want to start an engine buying collective? :)

Got my motor from gasbikes finally. Took 2 days for them to ship it, a week total from order to doorstep and their customer service is nonexistent. Of the 5 departments they have, you can only get a hold of the ordering department. 3 voice mail and multiple emails were never returned.

However the motor is a beauty, and I got upgraded motor from what I ordered. ordered the $139 Jet motor, got a Skyhawk gt5.

Got the cns carb, handlebar mounted choke cable and nothing was missing. I hit a snag with the front motor mount as well, cant find a place to get the aluminum plate.

Well I'm planning on getting this thing done over the weekend since my extra parts have arrived. So far the front mount is the only issue I've really came across. I'm a little hesitant about the strength of the wheels/ spokes, but I guess we'll find out how they hold up soon. The brakes might be an issue also....Well the bike sure looks damn good. I'll be getting a new classic leather saddle and will probably drop the back rack & get a lay back seat post. The springer forks are on and look good. The neck was long so i used some extra spacers to tighten things up.I could have chopped the neck down, but that would have put the spring/fork out of alignment. Check it out:

Doesn't look like chain clearance will be an issue:

I'll update more after the weekend. Hopefully with some of me riding my first build!

I actually just got my bike finished yesterday and put 10-15 miles on it. So far the bike seems to be handling it well.

The front fender vibrates when I go ever 20, but I haven't reinforced it yet either. All in all, I am very happy with both the bike an motor.
GR, please, please just remove the front fender until you get it shored up. I got scraped off the road half a block from my house by a neighbor. Bike spilled gas all over the bed of his truck and I bled all over his cab due to a fender failure.

Better safe then road rashed and face planted

Your needed around here and I would bet elsewhere

I actually experienced fender failure yesterday. After getting to a friends house, I noticed that the L bracket had broken.

I blame my excellent fortune one really tightening the bolts that held the fender braces in place. Not gonna make this mistake again.

And no, no injuries to report either, thankfully.

Looks like ill be riding without fenders until I get some new braces for em. Well at least your bikes running. I'm having clutch issues so for now am at the "well at least she looks sweet" stage still. Hopefully ill get things worked out.At first the clutch felt like it was stuck, so went in loosened the flower nut and it felt like that popped loose and the pedals would turn etc. now I cant get the pushpin back in on the other side to attached the face/ clutch arm. Hoping ill find the answer on here today.

Better than my issue. My throttle cable is about 1/2-3/4 inch too long. After maxing out the 90 degree elbow, the barrel adjuster on that and the adjuster on the carb.

I have no soldering skills to shorten the cable. Going to look into replacing the cable sheath if I can find one with a large enough inner diameter for the carb side to slide through. If I can't I'll have to learn crash course soldering skills.

you ended up with a grubee kit too right? Mine came without the new carb or the throttle connected so I'm hoping its my throttle cable is the right length. it looks like it should work. I'm concerned that the inner barrel (that the throttle cable hooks too) seems like it doesn't slide easily in and out of my carb right now and might stick open. I guess Ill see when I finally fire this engine up!

I noticed that and I'm pretty sure that's not the issue. From the factory the thing was tight. I had to take apart the carb to get it out by pushing it out through the bottom the first time since it wouldn't shake loose and i couldnt get a pick or anything in there to pull it out. Now I know how the carb works at least. One way to learn how to work on a engine is to not have it work to begin with I guess :p

Hello nice post! I'm gonna get a Clairmont too! I was wondering about a few things:

1. Does the chain clear the rear fender on the Engine side? I looked and it seemed to cover the area where
the chain would run. If you have to cut it, what do you use? Hacksaw and steady nerves?

2. To reinforce the front fender I would tack weld a steel rod inside the v, and make a bent washer to reinforce the mount.
I also wonder if you just grab the supports and gently bend them in and out if you could harden them up like that. Like bending a
paperclip till it hardens up. How do you reinforce them??

3. I read in a post that you can wrap a old innertube around the motor mounts to reduce vibration. I wonder if using
a garden hose would be better? Anyone who built one think a garden hose would fit inside the motor clamp?
Clear pvc Tubing??.

I also saw some cool posts for bikes. Here is one with a custom gas tank that looks easy to build!!!

MotoredBikes.com: Motorized Bicycle Forum - tatebikes's Album: Boardtrack inspired

Here is one that will make you drool!!!
MotoredBikes.com: Motorized Bicycle Forum - Brent Merkley's Album: Not Just Another Whizzer
Looks like a Clairmont frame.

Anyone have a link to the Springer Forks for this bike??

Oh yeah and I saw this:
Sick Bike Parts LLC - Performance parts for your motorized bicycle Kit that makes it so you can use your stock shifter!!!! COOL!!!
Check out second video of him buzzing around in traffic!!!

Cool Bikes!!! Clairmonts look the best!!

Someone mind posting details of their front and rear motor mounts for the Clairmont? Looks like it'll have to be an alternate mount (drill or u-bolt I guess?) for the front as the diameter of the tube is too large.

EDIT: Ended up ordering this: http://www.sickbikeparts.com/catalo...ducts_id=85&osCsid=g2967lj5s4s8dus95e4gc3sgu3

Bummed I won't be able to take the bike for a ride this weekend...guess I'll have to wait until that part gets here.
