    Things went downhill abruptly...

Jet was definitely too small for me, but I also have the needle at the 'halfway' setting.. Wouldn't have messed with the jet size if the thing wasn't running ridiculously rich even with the needle at the leanest setting. Less than 10 hours and the piston had blow-by, bogged at anything over...

Currently I'm wary of pulling the plug because it seems to want to be way too tight to not leak... but if the outside of the plug and the acorn nuts are turning rainbow-ish colors from the heat, then I can only imagine the inside isnt gonna look much better :(

Well, for the sake of adding to the info here, I have updates. Luckily they're seemingly resolved (for now), so this is just to document it, in case someone in the future winds up googling similar issues and finds this place (kinda like how I stumbled onto this place) She's been running...

I went the solder method because I wanted more flexibility for if I do decide to go with a different carburetor, which at this point I'm happy to say is notably further down the list :) and thank you. Still a novice, but try to do right by my motors, even if I don't know what right is all of the...

Sorry, apparently my phone and the submit button don't get along too well.

So I wanted to give an update.. I had already ordered a micro drill bit set so I figured I'd try the solder/drill method. Too a stab at 65, and the results were better... Tried 55, and she's back to her old self now. If I move the clip all the way to the rich setting, she still runs rich, but...

    Things went downhill abruptly...

I was looking at carbs, ended up buying a microdrill kit, I'll try rejetting for now, mostly because while it does hit WOT, it's running itself out of gas now, and unless I richen it back up, that's just how it's going to go.. So I'll do the solder method and see if that gets me any joy. Should...

Well, definitely on the right path. Adjusted the float and leaned up the fuel/oil ratio. Idle screw still in all the way and it's still not super stable. If I WOT it, it bogs, but within 1-2 seconds opens right up and sounds like it should. It's 'four stroking' still, but it's a new engine and...

I'm in the boonies, what neighbors? :p I'll try that suggestion out. I will try that. I did, however, thin the ratio ever so slightly when I started having the issues, since I knew it was running rich.. Probably about 20:1 now, but I'll try a bit thinner as well and see if it makes any difference.

So I got my new cylinder and rings. Installed and tested. And there's good news.. And bad news. The good news is the engine runs excellent.. The bad news is I have to turn off the fuel petcock and wait until it's at the end of what's left in the carburetor for it to run excellent. It's running...

    Wait... I did this backwards..

Already broke etiquette by asking for help without dropping in here to say hey. New to the world of motorized bicycles... Was actually first interested back in 2009, and finally got started about a month ago. I guess I'm a natural procrastinator. Not a commuter, this is purely a hobby for me...

    Things went downhill abruptly...

So it was just bad timing :( perhaps getting the gasket opened up a bit gave it just a little more power which aggravated the issue, but either way, wow... Y I know they're a crapshoot, but still sucks. She ran so good for that brief moment in time. I went ahead and ordered a cylinder and...

    Things went downhill abruptly...

First, I do want to say that it's gotten to the point that I'm googling "motorbicycling [problem]" when I'm trying to find out info, so I figured I should probably sign up for an account on this forum that I'm so regularly harvesting information from.. Anyways, onto the issues. First kit...
