How to run bearings in this set up?

The shim finally came for the seat. It was a snug fit, but it all came together perfectly. This picture reminded me of all of the cyclists i see in the neighborhood. It cracked me up a little. I also got the gearbox nice and snug now. I should be able to test soon.

How to run bearings in this set up?

Gearbox update: I gave the final drive a good few turns. Good news: It seems to work pretty well! Bad news: It appears that the shaft I made for the gearbox is a degree or two off center and causes the gearbox to gyrate slightly. At low speeds (like when I turn it by hand) it doesn't seem like...

How to run bearings in this set up?

I decided to give the foot boards a go this morning. My welding isn't exactly a stack of dimes, but I'm pretty proud of how they came out. I'll probably round out the corners a bit for safety reasons.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check into that. What size sleeve did you buy? Your bike looks great. It's funny how similar our builds are. I have the same engine, frame, clutch, fork, piping and drum brake lol.

How to run bearings in this set up?

I don't at the moment, but I might have access to them later this week. I'm going to check a few more necessities off the list this week and I'lll leave the seat issue for last most likely. When I get that sorted I'll send you the dimensions. I really appreciate all of the advice and help.

How to run bearings in this set up?

Alrighty, update: so it turns out the clamp was never going to work. The id of the seat tube just doesn't allow conventional clamps to be used as far as i can tell. So the question is...what kind of beer do you want? Lol

How to run bearings in this set up?

I'll see if i can lengthen the slit. It might be less than an inch. The screw on the clamp broke. But there's not really a way to replace it without damaging it further as far as I can tell. I'll check over it all again later today in the workshop.

How to run bearings in this set up?

I'm still learning machining jargon so let me see if I'm understanding correctly. Cut a slit into the seat tube (the tube that's part of the frame) then cut a similar slit into the bushing. Put the bushing into the seat tube. The bushing would then create a snug fit when i slide in the seat...

How to run bearings in this set up?

Welding wouldn't be a bad idea. I really want to keep the frame unmolested if possible though. the seller has an active store on ebay. His frames are just ever so slightly...off? Your explanation of the clamp is spot on. If i could get someone to mill that i think it would work pretty well..how...
