    1912 Excelsior Tribute

Engine braking is a wonderful thing as you discovered! Not as much need for disc brakes if your overall ratio is low enough. On my two 5 speed bikes I'd say 80% of my braking is handled with engine compression coupled with down shift. Though the Simplex has dual disc the Harley Peashooter is a...

Backazwards build? Start with 65cc moto, chop build into mtb? Does anybody do this?

It is hard but that's what I did with the Simplex (shown in a previous post, this thread) frame design which consists of duplex tubes and I added a pedal bracket, which no Simplex ever had a pedal function. I cut all the original frame tubes from the head tube and built a much longer and...

    loncin 100cc 2 stroke air cooled ?

Thanks yeah that's a nice motor 4 speed with wet clutch add a real ex chamber to it for a power bump to around 8 to 10 hp total. Takes a lot of space to mount one though. Ignition sets are availible on ebay about $25. for CDI and coil. You need a wiring diagram though .I think that only uses 4...

Bike builders that have machine tools/shops

Your sentiments match my own, but still love these cars while extending my condolences for the work load of maintaining them. I don't do polish! Rick C.

    loncin 100cc 2 stroke air cooled ?

Several engines mentioned previously. Which Lifan do you own? Post a photo of your motor along with a few basic specs to answer the CDI question or any others that may come up. Rick C.

Backazwards build? Start with 65cc moto, chop build into mtb? Does anybody do this?

Thanks Forties remember that it's your build and your concept and design. Categorizing right or wrong are absolute death to innovation of design. Only you actually have a vote that matters in this area. Matters of safety however do matter and are pretty well developed for bikes with or without...

Greetings, and Salutations from the Mini-State (R.I.)

Welcome I have a Kent hanging in the rafters that could be a twin to your Road Master. It was ridden for many years yet looks close to new. I've built many motorized bikes but never this one. I rode it about a year ago & it functions great. Glad you modified yours and hope you enjoy. Rick C.

    Old Guys Simplex moto-peddle bike

Wise council Tom & advice I accept. I add extremely slow and short to the safety guidelines of initial test rides , with through observation & inspection both during and after each outing. I also don't stray far from my tools. I walked the current build home on it's only outing to this point...
