Default Main jet to big or small?

Hi all, I have a new (2months) 48cc slant head motor on my MB since my old Ported clunka 48cc died and i had to use the NT carb from it on the new motor. All has been good but a but spluttery when wot, std e clip position the bike runs crap only raising the needle to the botton clip it runs real good low and midrange, untill i crank it. could the main jet be to big for the lil 48cc.
