Default $44,000- 50 mph E-bike from Germany

Looks interesting...but really more of a E-cycle with a pedal generator.

YouTube - Super fast bike could revolutionize transportation

Lot to think about in that concept. Running a bike with a push trailer powered by a 500watt motor = no need to pedal.... So one could pedal a generator when he felt like it to extend the range.

Instead of running the chain to the rear wheel, you could run it to a second motor wired as a generator.

We're approaching perpetual motion again. Yes, you could run a chain to a generator, but you'd need to stop somewhere and pedal it for a few hours with the wheels off the ground to build up enough charge to resume your trip. Might as well hook up some solar panels to it to add a little more juice, that is if the sun is shining. You just can't charge a bike fast enough while riding to overcome the power you're using up. I realize that hybrid cars work on this principle but it's a very complex, computerized system that uses regenerative braking and the cost is $40,000 and up. On a bicycle, every pound of equipment you add to it is taking away some range.
