if its new ride for short distances and vary your speeds but not run at high speeds alot.
it wont over heat. but i wouldnt leave it idling for a long period of time sitting in one spot. chain noise is usually caused by a loose or tight chain and also you can replace the stock tensioner with a rubber one or not use it at all, oiling the chain mite help too.
i used 16:1 for breakin but many people think you should use atleast 20:1 for breakin and then go to 25:1 or more after breakin and it really depends on the quality of oil you use.

If you're sure the noise is chain related there are several things to look for. Most common is chain not being aligned with the sprockets. Another area is mis-alignment of the plastic tensioner wheel. If the chain doesn't ride true in the groove of the wheel it can get noisy. Most tensioner brackets require a slight twist to get the wheel to align properly with the chain path. Many guys replace the plastic wheel with a modified skate board or roller blade wheel. You'll need to cut a groove in the roller blade/skateboard wheel to accomodate the chain but they do run quieter than the plastic ones. There is another cause which you can fix but it requires some grinding on the inside of the clutch actuator cover. Every engine I've worked with has some slight to heavy chain interference on the front edge of that cover. Check this post. http://motorbicycling.com/f4/chain-noise-6682.html
Good luck and come back if things don't improve.

if you have fenders you need to cut notches in them or the chain likes to wack at them alot.

Not rubber Skate board and roller blade wheels are usually made of polyurethane or a similar material. Some are solid poly but some have a rubberized coating or jacket over a hard plactic. Look for a good quality wheel that is urethane. The jacketed wheels tend to come apart when cutting a groove in them. Check this thread for details. http://motorbicycling.com/f13/skate-...-mod-2590.html
