My Trimmer Project

Hello guys, this is my fist post after registering and i want to start my project but just have some questions about yours and see if they answer mine.

1. On a chain driven bike, is there a sprocket, that the chain goes on,on the end of the crankshaft or is it on a separate one because it was reduced from the engine. disregard the clutch since the output shaft on mine & the clutch are the same?

2. what speed are you achieving and with what gearing?

3. could you use the original mountain bike rear sprockets, it wont have pedals, or would that be impossible?
