Default Engine won't idle

I've read dozens of threads, but I still feel stumped.
Here are list of symptoms for my new build:

1. Engine starts with medium choke and slight throttle only
2. Must hold slight throttle and feather choke to keep engine running
3. Engine will rev with throttle, but is rough at times (because it is choked)
4. If I release throttle then the engine dies immediately
5. If I turn choke completely off then the engine gets weaker and weaker until it dies.

My best guess is a vacuum leak between the carb and intake?

What kind of engine is it? If it is a Chinese 2 stock ? Idle adjustment is on the left side of the carb. It will be the screw with a spring on it. Let us know more. On a 2 stroke vacuum leaks cause a racing Idle! Welcome to the forum biker! Glad to have you here!

Probably are sucking air in somewhere. I know its a pain, but I would start at the tank and trace you fuel delivery line into the carb. I had the same problem and took the carb apart and found the that the bowl float and mixture needle weren't even connected. I also made a gasket to go inside the cap of the slide where the throttle cable comes in.

Good Luck

Could be you have the carb needle clip in the wrong place if you need to choke it your not getting enough fuel try adjusting that and check you seals around the intake. Use rtv sealant to fix it.

If it is a 2 stoke China Start with your clip second from the top on your metering rod.http://motorbicycling.com/f4/carbure...build-195.html
