Gear Ratio Questions

I have come to the conclusion that instead of being stubborn and insisting on using an out-dated motor. I will purchase a kit.
Kit = Motorized Bicycle Engine Kits

But there is a small catch:

The only bike I would want to put this kit on has a 20-22" diameter. The kit is made for 24-26" Diameter.

How much trouble would it be to make the engine able to run on this smaller wheel size?

You would just need to get a smaller sprocket like a 30 tooth should do. The kit comes with a 44tooth sprocket. thatsdax has a few sprockets you can also get custom ones from King's Sales & Service he is a sponser here his sprockets are nice they cost about $37.50 for the amount of teeth you need plus $12.50 for shipping in the US.

Where would I look locally for the sprockets I would need?

Could I get them machined or could i buy them already made?

You can use a stanard 32T sprocket and have the center hole bored then drill your mounting holes, I have a Schwinn OCC, I used the front sprocket on the rear.

If you use the front sproket on the rear, the 415 chain would not work with it because the front sproket is for a different size chain. The kit you are getting aaronmorg has the 415 chain.

Bicycle chain and 415 are both 1/2" pitch. The 415 will work fine with the bicycle sprocket; there will just be some extra side-to-side clearance.

415 chain is actually designed for use on adult tricycles.. and the front sprocket would be the same as a normal bike, pretty sure anyway..

Sorry about that, I thought they had a different pitch and the 415 chain would not line up with the bicyle sprocket. Good to know that it can work.
