Default Any GP 460 Friction Drive Projects?

Has anyone done this swap yet?

I'm doing it, will probably mount on my Raleigh men's cruiser w/7-speeds as a test bike.

I could use some helpful hints, especially about roller size, possible weak links and exhaust options.

So far I have the GP460 engine with Trevor Simpson head kit, 15:1 compression, BMP friction kit w/Staton 1.25" roller.

I'm shooting for 40mph at 12,000rpm.

Looking to buy the Dominator pipe from fd150

It SHOULD clear the friction housing, even though this pipe won't fit the Staton gearbox.

If anyone has tried this powerpipe w/460, I'd appreciate feedback.

Doesnt seem to difficult. Also with a 1.25" roller and 12k revs your speed will be more around 45mph. Good Luck and keep us updated.

Hey Mike,

I would think it'd be simple but ya never know. This engine lives in the high rpm range so acceleration at low speeds is questionable. Clutch engages at 3,000rpm, max torque rating is at 8,000rpm, max rpm is maybe 17000rpm.

I might need a smaller-diameter friction roller.

I ride in the center lane on a two-mile section of highway. I need to accelerate with the vehicle traffic. Then I need to maintain 38mph.

I can do that with "The Dragon Lady" so I'm expecting better from this setup.
