Blew exhaust gasket
I installed a thick exhaust gasket from Dax and it blew out in only a month. The bike seems to be a lot quicker, though, with all that exhaust bypassing the muffler. Any problem just using some gasket maker in a tube?

Re: Blew exhaust gasket
You'll want something that will withstand 1000 degrees F.
Several layers of aluminum foil will work in a pinch.

Re: Blew exhaust gasket
Way cool I've used the foil in a pinch. What does the heat riser look like I mean does it have a matching bolt pattern . That would be the bomb then

Usually there are a pair of these in a muffler replacement kit but (clamps, gaskets and hardware) Anyone who has a dual carbs on their old aircooled VW probably wouldn't need them. So there are usually plenty of these around in an aircooled VW shop. I am sure I have several. Good quality too.

You don't mean rubber on the exhaust do you. It will never take the heat. Not for long anyway.
