What is this gasket for?

I have a circular gasket that came with my kit, but I can't figure out what it's for. It is about 1.4 cm in diameter and the hole is about .9 or 1 cm. It is red also if that helps.

Gasket for the Fuel Tank petcock. goes inbetween the tank and the fuel valve. =)

thank you..that has been plaguing me for a while now. I used thread tape and have no leaks so that's good.
