Lightbulb eletrical

i bought a headlight designed for these motors from boygofast on ebay
i had a blond moment and decided to see how well it worked, and hooked it up to a battery charger set on 2 amps
from my diagnosis, the little black cylinder, a resistor i believe, is burnt out.
its connected from the circuit board by a wire and back to the circuit board
could i by pass the resistor by going right around it with another wire

You probably fried the resistor because you used 12 volts instead of 6 volts...Right? I would take it to radio shack and match the resistor and replace it. If you bypass it with power I think you'll probably fry the rest of it and you'll be left with a hood ornament...IMHO...POPS

i replaced the black cylinder, which turned out to be a diode
still no go
i took wires from a 9v battery to each connection directly on each led
still no go
i heated the solder and took out each led
dont work here either
replaced leds
they work when i put the power to their own connectors, but not through the circuit board.

how can i fix/rig this to work
