finally got this thing going!!!!!! great!! cant seem to get throttle right? it seems to be high? know the carbs aren't great. would like to get idle lower? anyhelp?? you guys have been great! tanks

sorry bout info. its a 50cc 2 stroke from www.gasbike.info. never came with a name? basic siphon carb. still cant get the idle down. seems to want to scream! runs great other than that. someone said to finger tighten throttle cap. ill try that. if there are any other suggestions that would be great! picture on my facebook Eric Rager. havnt figured out this site yet. you guys are geeky geekier than me

Wait a minute...........if the idle mixture screw has fallen out, then that's not likely to be the cause of your over-idling.
For that, the next possibility that comes to mind is your carburetor throttle slide. You'll get a racing engine if that's not installed properly.
The slide has a slot running along one side. This slot must be lined up with a little 'nub' on the inside of the barrel.

Had one worked basically the same ,got the idle down a little with touch of plumbers tape on the threaded links and intake followed it up with a trace of adhesive glue...
You need a need a new carp set screw but if your idle is too high even without one it is most likely your throttle cable.
There is an adjustment at each end.
The object is to get the outer sheath just the right length so the inner cable itself can go far enough to let the barrel go completely down to the idle set screw stop, but not be so loose it can come off it's stops and not let you get full throttle.
You need a replacement screw though as you will never be able to set idle with cable alone, it changes every time you turn your handlebars.

if it isnt a cable issue as KC described it may very well be an air leak, air leaks are bad, causes lean condition that will kill the engine if run very much.
if the idle screw fell out it was likely do to you having it out so far the spri g had no tension or very little tension on it, so i agree you eitherneed to make sure throttle cable is adjusted with enough slack so the carb slide can move farther down in carb, or you havean air leak between carb and manifold or between intake and cylinder.
