I have a weed eater that i barely ever use and want to put it on my bike but i dont want to spend to much money (no money if i can) i already have a 2 cycle engine kit but it doesnt really work too well. Is there a way to be able to mount it and get it going for cheap?

check you tube for weedeater bike. i saw one there were the guy just put a deep socket on the shaft were the cutter head was and rolled it against the side of the tire

fastest and cheapest way is to fix a 1.5 inch BMX peg with a 5/8 hole and 26 thread. Check out the BullitProof line of pegs, easy on and enough friction. Also people have used skateboard wheels, pieces of pipe coated in jbweld or sandpaper. You name it it's been done. My first ride cost me I think a total of $35 or so in parts, less if you have the aluminum or steel around to make the mounts.

Try a quick search of the forum and read the DIY section if you read 1 person's posts more than any others it would be Deacon's as he is something of the master of all things friction drive.

well its working its just the mounts all broke and i dont want to use that reverse drill biit or easy out stuff cuz that doesnt work but i was thinking about buying some kind of mount and jb weld it to the frame

Maybe you should have a look at how the jackshaft kit from sickbikeparts.com mounts to the motor. They have made a new mounting method at the rear and you could do the same kind of thing, even if it's at the front. You have nothing to lose at this point.

with the soft steel of the original mounting screws I'm willing to bet that an easy out would work, particularly if you heat the area first.

Of course you could just drill the old mounting studs out and tap to a larger 8mm threaded stud.

jb weld won't hold that engine in place...

of course if you are really going to give up on it you could offer it up for sale and recoup some of your losses.
